I've also used this processor for shredding carrots and slicing vegetables for other recipes. Making biscuits - done that too. I also make a lot of salsa, very hot and spicy that is devoured quickly.
Creamy recipes are whipped up even faster than cookie doughs and I never get bored of experimenting with new recipes. Today, I made my favorite recipe (so far) to make in this food processor. Ice cream! All you need is 4 half-frozen bananas and about 1.5 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Pulse until the bananas are creamy. Then you can add the flavors you want. You can also add sugar, honey, agave, or other sweeteners. Today, I used a bunch of strawberries that were frozen but mostly thawed, and half a can of chilled coconut cream. Pulsed in those strawberries and then put in the freezer for about two hours. After one hour, stir the ice cream so it becomes more creamy, not so icy. In another hour, enjoy! If you want harder ice cream, leave in freezer longer. Or shorten the time for soft serve. I think the next batch I'll make some caramel from scratch and add pecans.
I have seen youtube videos of people making ice cream in blenders and food processors, but I hesitated to try it. I'm glad I got over that trepidation because I doubt I will ever buy ice cream from the store again. But after making homemade nut butter in this food processor, I became more confident that this processor can do just as well as those expensive processors I can't afford. For some recipes, it may take a couple minutes longer because it is not the highest wattage, but I can live with that. Also, when making ice cream, make sure to thaw frozen ingredients a little. Cleaning up this food processor is much easier than fussing with an ice cream maker, and using valuable space to freeze the bowl and make a ton of ice. I already freeze most fruits I purchase so they don't go bad before I can consume them. I make a lot of smoothies and green smoothies, so these are ingredients I don't mind sharing with my ice cream recipes. You can even make this with all vegan ingredients so it is healthy for you and your family and guests.
I know there are other recipes I could talk about making in this food processor, but in almost 3 months of owning this Oster food processor, I've barely started having fun with the many recipes I passed up because I didn't have a food processor. One of the best things about this particular food processor, that was important to me, is that it is easy to move. I get enough of a workout from my cast iron cookware, I didn't want something else I'd have to heft out of a cabinet. However, in hindsight, this doesn't take up as much counter space as models with a higher price tag, so I've been leaving it on my counter. Right behind my Oster blender. I wanted a smaller processor than 10-cups, but that has turned out to be a great size for so many recipes, and dough, that I am glad I did not choose a smaller one. Many times, I prefer making large batches so I can have leftovers and don't have to cook as much. 10 cups is about perfect for enough vegetables and cheese for 2 deep dish pizzas in my 12" cast iron skillet.
