Great item for the price.
5 Stars
Great item for the price.
I bought this product for firearm cleaning and maintenance. Always useful to have a rubber mallet for that type of thing. Though heavier than it looks, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of construction and over all size for only 10 dollars. While I could use a shorter, smaller mallet, this is a must have tool if you tear down firearms often for cleaning, maintenance or upgrades. I am happy with this purchase and would say this is a must have if you work or tinker with smaller more sensitive mechanical items. I can't say much negative about it but I will leave a few observations after about 2 months of regular use. Being that it is quite heavy and could be a bit cumbersome in a smaller space. The rubber is quite firm on both sides, though one is obviously softer ( The "Orange" Side ) so be aware this may not be soft enough for some uses but if you are working with metal or polymers this should do well. Though the firmness may deter some people, softer and smaller mallets could compliment this in any tool box. However, this gets a five star for the simple value it offers.Doesn't feel like it will break and has done exactly what it's designed to do with ease.

4.0 out of 5 stars NOT A RUBBER MALLET/HAMMER
Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2016
**Update: despite the surface damage my improper use caused to this product, it has turned out great for hammering wooden garden stakes into the ground. Besides the initial plastic layer wearing down it is in pretty good shape after a full summer of use for odd jobs. Bumping up a couple stars**

I am partially to blame for this confusion, but this item came up when I searched for a rubber mallet and, well, it looks like a rubber mallet and said it was one. So, I assumed it was a rubber mallet without further inquiry. Alas, it is not a rubber mallet. Rather, it is made of hard plastic that has some give to it. When I attempted to use it to hammer in a metal stake in the ground (as one might use a rubber mallet), a piece of it went flying off. A couple more taps and the thing was damaged beyond recognition. I've posted pictures so you can see the damage caused by only relatively light hammering. I can see how this would work well for hammering delicate items (as the description states) but I still think it's a bit odd that something so hammer-ish like doesn't withstand hammering. Keep looking if you desire a true rubber mallet for heavy tapping.
