Great product for the price if you’re technically inclined and willing to spend extra config time
I purchased the CPE510 to provide high bandwidth internet to our neighborhood HOA 4k security cameras for live stream and playback. The devices are only separated by a quarter of a mile distance in the southeastern USA, but the wireless setup is not true line of site due to interfering trees. 3 months in, I could not be happier with the outcome for such an affordable price. In terms of environment, I am in a heavy foliage and humid area, but the trees, leaves, and rainy weather do not seem to interfere with performance. I also low-profiled both transmit and receive antennas by camouflage painting with a non-metal base paint resulting in no negative wireless impact (pictures attached). The configuration software assumes intermediate technical knowledge. I configured a few things manually since I wanted no DHCP clients and only MAC allowed devices on the network since the receiver is installed in a public area. Using the built in tool, I completed an area wireless scan to ensure my frequencies would not fight neighboring devices. In this process, the Pharos config allowed me to choose only “A” transmission as opposed to “N” which I thought might be beneficial. I experienced negative impact after making this change from random wireless disconnects so I reverted to default N wireless settings and problems disappeared. For speed comparison, my hardwired POE are generally the same speed as I’m receiving when using the CPE510 – that’s between 300 & 400 kbps on low bandwidth and 4,000 to 4,500 kbps on high bandwidth. I tweaked Pharos a lot using Google Chrome on Windows 11 to get what I call proper custom settings which is a great feature of this device. The end result is exactly what I hoped and wireless speeds are just as responsive as our other hardwired POE cameras. The Pharos software seems glitchy sometimes and says changes must be saved many minutes after making the change. I made a habit of saving changes then rebooting to ensure my config was saved properly. The control panel allows a configuration export for safe long-term keeping. For reference, all network cabling I used is CAT6 outdoor shielded with gig switches in between. I have had no reason to interact with TP Link support so I have no feedback for long-term support of this product other than reviewing their website for firmware changes, but I definitely recommend the device considering its moderate price and detailed configuration abilities.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully stable!
Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2019
    Hello!

Thanks for looking at my review. I am very pleased with this TP Link product! In fact, I am so pleased with it that I feel that it is well worth reviewing on Amazon.

Here is my setup. Essentially I am internet sharing with a family member. In order to d o so, I mounted an "AP" TP-Link antenna on the outside of their house about 12 feet off the ground. I then used CAT5e to wire a connect to it from the network switch. After that, I wired a TP-link antenna on my house in "Client" mode using the same configuration. I then plugged it into my ASUS wireless router. The mounting originally was not very good. They were not angled correctly so I used the meter built into the antenna to figure out the best possible angle. This was a fantastic feature that I am very grateful they included. After orientating them correctly, I began to receiving the signal. I established the internet connection and was getting 50/30 internet. I double checked with TP-Link's tech support (which was very responsive) and they said that was a really good connection. While the antennas say they can do 300/300, you have to look to see that for some reason the LAN connection is only 10/100. That being said, I was very pleased with the connection speed. I can steam 4K content all while browsing the internet.

Overall, I am very happy with this antenna. I have tested it in several Minnesota storms - including wind, hail, rain, snow, and grossly low temps. If you're looking for a reliable internet connection using a fixed antenna, look no further. It gets almost no more reliable and consistent than this product. FYI, I purchased two.

    -----Update-----

I now have had an uninterrupted connection for 20 days. I am extremely pleased with the reliability of this product!

    ____Update

I still have yet to have an issue with this product. I was originally concerned because the max network speed is really limited by the 10/100 mbps network port rather than the 300 mbps wireless negotiating speed, but frankly I have never had a significant slow down. I have a constant load on my network due to four iPads, one TIVO, three laptops, four Google Homes, six smart switches, three smartphones, two ROKU TVs, and other miscellaneous devices. Most of these are constantly running some sort of process in the background if they aren't being used actively. While my up/down speed test shows I'm usually getting 30/30 - 50/40, the connection and speed are so stable it doesn't matter if I'm not getting faster up/down speeds.

I will set a calendar reminder to update this during February! We'll see how rural Minnesota weather treats them.
