Solid Radio! Good Range Under Favorable Conditions

Solid Radio! Good Range Under Favorable Conditions
This is a solid little radio! It has worked very well for the time that I have had it. It is well built and has a sturdy, durable construction. It has seen some rain and moisture but still operates perfectly and has never ceased to function. The range is not great in places with a lot of obstruction (maybe 1/8 to 1/2 a mile) walkie talkies will usually outperform it in these conditions. But if you are in an area with less obstruction, I have found it usually outperforms walkie talkies by a considerable margin. On mountain summits I have managed to talk with people about 15-20 miles away just using the stock 'rubber duck' antenna. Connecting an external antenna to the radio (it has a BNC connector) will allow you to greatly increase the radio's range.
