The dock works as advertised, simply plug everything into the dock and then plug the thunderbolt cable into the Mac. There is a slight delay with a second monitor that is plugged in via hdmi; it takes about 5 seconds before the screen turns on. Other than that, there is no delays in the peripherals and I do use this set up for a gaming rig.
The design is very nice, it is compact and very much looks like an Apple built accessory.
There is one very big thing now to contemplate for all of you thinking to get this dock or any thunderbolt dock for that matter. I originally chose this dock over something like the Henge Horizontal dock because it was universal; if I got another computer that had a thunderbolt plug, I was all set. Now however with the revealing of the USB-C, it appears that thunderbolt may not be around much longer. If you have a Mac or another computer with a thunderbolt plug and you plan to keep it for the next several years as I do, you will be happy with this product. However, if your computer is on its way out due to old age or breaking, you may want to sit tight for a bit to see what kinds of USB-C docks start to come out of the woodworks.
Hopefully I will be able to find a different USB to HDMI adapter in the future that will remedy this, but for now it is a crude work around.
If you are expecting to add two external monitors to your computer, this might be your adapter if you have:
1) True Thunderbolt Displays
2) An additional adapter to convert USB 3.0 to HDMI or Display Port
Otherwise, you will be able to only support one external display with this device.
I was happy with what I got: a Belkin Thunderbolt 2 Express HD Dock in very good (almost new) condition, an hefty power supply and a 2 m original Apple Thunderbolt 2 cable in the original box (it looked new to me.) I also got an HDMI cable.
I am happy with the purchase.
Note that I don't really need the video ports: I have several Thunderbolt 2 to HDMI adapters already. My situation is very different from that of owners of older MacBook Pro computers with only one or two Thunderbolt 2 ports.

I spent over an hour with the support rep troubleshooting the device and we concluded that the product was defective. Unfortunately they did not have any in stock and they did not have any of the newer Thunderbolt 3 version either. She offered me a Belkin Webstore credit for the retail cost of this product and told me that when I see the product available on the website, I should call in and get a coupon number to put through the transaction.
I was not happy with this because I was trapped with a device that wasn't working and unable to get another one without forgoing the credit. I asked about a cash reimbursement and she said she didn't think they would approve it but she would check with someone at Belkin and contact me later that day.
She did say I could use the credit toward the newer version of this product but I would have to pay the difference. At that point, I was leaning toward upgrading and beginning to feel that the delay might be OK afterall.
Four days later, there was no call. After verifying that the products are currently available on their website, I called and spoke to a different rep who found the credit but no mention of the option to upgrade with me paying the difference. She was very argumentative but eventually agreed to consult with supervision. She told me that this would take place via e-mail and she should have an answer that day.
Two days later, there was no call. I called and spoke to yet another rep and the story changed yet another time. This time, there was no option to purchase over their website (and he stated that this option should never have been offered in the first place) and that the standard shipping times would probably make this matter take several weeks (or more) to complete. They are unwilling to do anything until I return the defective product first.
When I went back to count the commitments that had been made and broken, I stopped counting at five.
I have not had such a frustrating series of experiences with customer service in a long time.
As far as the device is concerned, as long as it works, it is fine. When it stops working, it brings to a sudden halt the efficiency and convenience of having this much connectivity.
If you chose not to avoid Belkin products and the one(s) you buy fail, I suggest you be prepared for a gauntlet of problems or simply buy something else next time.
