The 300 watt motor, glass fiber reinforced nylon impeller wheel and polycarbonate body are all high quality, well made parts! As far as I'm aware, this is the only blower of its kind that's able to also double as a sucker, as other makes don't have a connection for the nozzle on the side of the device. This is very helpful, doubles as a direct-air vacuum cleaner if you also order Makita's (overpriced) 122814-8 collection bag for small heaps that aren't quite enough to warrant lugging out the shop vac. Since there's a grate to prevent really large debris from getting into the impeller, it's not likely to damage even if sucking up things like ball bearings or metal shavings or any other shop debris.
Handy for cleaning out gutters! Blow the leftover crumblies out of the trough, and suck the clogs out of the bendy downward bits! Easy to clean out the tool afterwards, just four screws to get the case apart and one little screw to hold the easily replaceable impeller onto the motor shaft.
The rubberish nozzle secures fairly securely to the body of the blower in either of the two positions. The ring with the two "pins" appears to be replaceable in case it breaks - everything on this little tool is very serviceable! A standard 1 1/4" vacuum accessory will fit over the end of the nozzle, in case you want to use a vacuum attachment for further constricting for blowing, or widening for vacuuming up debris.
If you're in the Makita "family", pick one of these up! But wait for it (and the bag) to go cheaper as they're both kinda spendy for what they are at their full retail price...
It is small but that is actually exactly what I like about it. First off for size think if Toys R Us sold a leaf blower with their toy push mower. That being said it this isn’t a toy, it’s a very capable blower for the right applications. It has three speed settings, no idea why because it has a variable speed trigger and you’ll use it on high all the time anyway. It’s perfect for small decks and patios, it’s not perfect for big backyards filled with maple trees. Think of it more as a broom in capabilities and in its storability. Easily something you could hang in your pantry like a broom to quickly freshen up the deck before dinner, something you wouldn’t do with a full size corded blower.
Run time is limited to about 15 minutes which if you are using it for the right application is plenty.
If you’re over 4 ft tall then the Makita TP00000199 Long Blower Nozzle is a must have.
From a cost perspective it’s great if you have already invested in the Makita LXT line of tools as I have, certainly wouldn’t do it for a blower alone.
Makita does make a full size blower that takes two batteries that might be better suited to you if you need a full sized blower but I think you’d get better value out of other manufactures and you really should be going with a cord at that point.
