Purchased these crackers for a steamed lobster dinner. They have a nice finish. Not sure if it is polished aluminum or true chrome-plated. Hand washed before use to be safe. They do have a nice heft and are sturdy. Look great on the dining table setting. My family used them to crack large Maine lobsters. The crackers held up while cracking through the heavy claw shells. I chose to hand wash them as was not sure if they are dishwasher safe. My only complaint is they don't come with washing/care instructions nor material labeling. Hand washing kept mine in pristine condition. I will determine over time how well these crackers hold up. They can be used to crack nut shells.

We purchased a total of 7 orders totaling 42 items, it came in a nice package, easily washable but It also break easily, we have already thrown away 10 pieces since we purchased it because the bolts where loose and it fell apart.
