Worth every penny for brand new sealed boxed units!
If I could give my review a 10/5 stars I would! I purchased 2 BRAND NEW SEALED PS Vita Slims with 3.55 firmware from seller Above All Games with FBA (fulfillment by Amazon). Items came in USA/NA PCH-2001 black edition, all shiny and new with seals both top and bottom of boxed packaging untouched. From my pictures the seal residues on the box front are from how these units are stored before shipment, they seem to have been stacked on top of one another. Don't worry as those are not the actual box seals (just residues) as they are on the front of the box so don't be alarmed by my images. You will see from the back of the box image I provide, untouched manufacturer seals are in tact and untouched. Everything was included in each box; PS Vita Slim PCH-2001 unit with 1GB INTERNAL memory (NO individual card, it's not included in this boxed unit, sold separately), USB cable, AC adapter, AC power cord, 2 quick start guides in English and French with safety guide booklet. Both units had more than enough charge to start up and edit your desired settings.I purchase 2 units for both my husband and I to enjoy. I have been using the one unit since I received it and it works great for remote play using powerline wifi access point and adapter in our home. My husband setup the access point wifi in our master bedroom since our PS4 Pro unit is in our game room. Without his setup, we did notice terrible gameplay quality via remote play with just using simple private internet network. With the access point wifi in place, picture and sound quality is SUPERB on the PS Vita especially for its LCD screen. I can finally relax in bed and play my PS4 games while my husband reads his book or watches tv, and vise versa. The audio bluetooth capability of the unit also comes in handy. The one drawback to these units are the memory cards, they are expensive! I will mainly be playing with my PS Vita via remote play so I have no need for more than the internal memory that Sony has provided with the PS Vita slims. I did order an adapter memory card, but it did not fit properly on either unit. Bit the bullet and awaiting the PS Vita made memory card instead just in case for my husband's personal use with his PS Vita unit.Overall, the risk was high when purchasing these on Amazon and picking the right seller. I'm so happy I received what was advertised :)

*Read bottom for updates and information on getting the best view on an LCD model*

*Trust me*

I have had one for a while. I have used the OLED model as well. I thought I should give my opinions on the matter. Many have commented on the differences. I will just say what I think is important. LCD's use less power, and have a much higher durability. If you're still wondering if its worth getting the LCD, then I say yes! The slim can use micro USB's! It is more portable than the OLED model. The colors are a marginal difference at best, despite certain games that were optimized for the OLED. Games look great on the LCD screen! Both Vita models have the same resolution. While not perfect, the games will be closer in color accuracy on the slim. The brightness is fine, and not an issue. I remote-played games, and they look amazing on the slim model. I've tried the God of War Collection, Lair, and The ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection. I have even used Bloodborne. It looks incredible, and close to the TV screen, unless you're using an OLED HDTV. In other words, if you want the slim, get it! If you want an OLED, buy one!

Remote play does NOT require internet! I always use one of my consoles as a private network, and had little to no lag at all. This was just my experience. PS Now is actually a nice feature to stream PS3 games to the handheld. I know its strange, but it is convenient in a way. You get a free trial, and can choose from a wide selection of games to play on the Vita. I chose certain games I already had for experimenting. I will say it doesn't run too bad with a lot of lag. I can't remember much of any slowdowns. Ever tried inFAMOUS on the Vita? How about God of War Ascension? Playing PS3 games on the handheld is comparable to streaming PS4 games to the same device.

Cross-buying is an option. You can purchase certain games, and receive them on every system. Most options are digital, however, you can buy certain physical PS3 games, and receive the digital Vita versions free! Some even have separate trophy lists! Many games support even cross-saving which allows you to transfer saves between systems. It's a very convenient feature, whether you are at home, or on the go. It also makes trophy collecting faster.

While there are plenty of ports of older, or remastered games, I will let you decide on choices, and how some ports did. They're around if you want them.

You should know all Oddworld games can be bought on Vita from the PSN. There's even The Sly Collection, and MGS Collection. There's more, but I recommend these the most! Other than Xbox/PS2 ports, you have access to digital PSP games, and PS1 classics.

The Vita still has some great games specifically for the hardware. It has a huge market of PSN titles. There are also nice genres here. For third-person RPG's, try Toukiden, and Soul Sacrifice. Freedom Wars is extremely cheap! Other games like Persona 4 Golden are easily some of the best available! PlayStation Allstars Battle Royale is a good addicting fighter. I play it next to the PS3 version! (It's very close to it!) In shooters, KZ: Mercenary is the true handheld experience of a Killzone game. There's lots to go around!

This is of course a multimedia device. You can listen to music, watch (Netflix) videos/movies, use social apps, and more! It packs most of what a smartphone device can give you with many other features.

I don't regret buying a PS Vita, and I love the slim model. I love it just like my PSP's. There is too much you can get out of a Vita system, and I find it to be fantastic! Do you realize that the Vita can play games from every PlayStation system? Reread if you need to.

(4/3/16) Update 1: After doing further experimenting, I found out that PS1 classics have much better color on the slim than any PSP model. It's a very significant difference. It corrects the color. In fact, older games (PSP, PS1, PS2 HD) look great on the slim. Colors look how they should! They are dark enough. For PSP, I recommend to always leave on bilinear filtering. (It should be on by default.) On PS1 games, only certain 3D games look better. Otherwise, I would leave the filtering option turned off. That's my opinion of it! When people complain about colors, they are just referring mostly to certain Vita-only games, or the menus/apps. Even with that comparison, the differences are greatly marginal in most games. Many seem to be getting more optimization on the LCD. Don't be confused to look at those comparison videos of OLED VS Slim. The screen looks a lot better in person, than when viewed from someone's downgrading camera.

Here's how to get the best picture/clarity on a slim model. It's all personal experimenting!

1. Go to your settings, and turn on "High Contrast" under "Accessibility". This will help to improve the clarity of text, and colors you see anywhere. (I also have on "Bold Text".)

2. Next, go to "Sound & Display" and move the brightness slider just to fit between the "es" letters of "Brightness". This should make the viewing experience a lot better.

Some games even allow a gamma slider like Minecraft. That should also help with your viewing on the slim. I had mine with these settings for months.

I had been thinking about buying a Vita for a couple years. I did a lot of research into the game library, the two different hardware versions, the memory cards, cases, specs... I ended up buying one despite Sony's evident lack of support, and I don't regret it. Here's why:

1. Games. As a member of PS Plus since around 2014, I have been collecting every "free" game Plus offers each month (some of PS+'s better releases have been Vita games). Thanks to this I had a day-one library of about 80 games when I received my Vita. A few months before I bough it, I had also started taking advantage of some of PS Store's weekly deals on PS Vita games.
2. PS One Classics. I have been collecting these since Sony started offering them on the PS Store. I don't have my original PS, and only kept a couple games. Those are collectible items nowadays, very hard to find, and therefore very expensive. Thanks to the Vita I can play all Final Fantasy games, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, and tens of other PS One Classics on the go, or at home. I think they look better on the small screen than on my big flat screen TV.
3. Mobile phone games are cool and all, but generally they're more geared towards casual gamers. I have been playing video games since the NES era and I like the more classic approach to gaming, and deeper games. PS Vita covers both angles, with tons of smaller and "Indie" games (many of which are also available on PS3 and/or PS4) as well as deep, story driven games.
4. The system itself is very powerful, with the capability of running big games with crazy graphics. I would say graphic-wise, Vita games are generally far better looking than PS2 games, and thanks to the small screen, sometimes can look almost as good as PS3 games.

I have lightly tested the 1001 (OLED) version, since two of my friends own one. I can say the slim model looks more sleek, less sturdy, a litle bit less bright, slightly more comfortable, and had slightlyy better battery life. The OLED screen is nice, but both my friends liked my slim model a little bit better. I honestly couldn't be happier with the slim, especially since it was brand new, and the only reasonable prices I could find for "fat" Vitas were on refurbished systems. I would recommend going for the reliability of a brand new slim model if you're between that and a used/refurb'd fat model.

Pros:
+ Huge game library that includes man PSP titles (digitally), as well as many PS One Classics offered in the PS Store (also digitally).
+ Some great exclusives such as "Persona 4 Golden", "Killzone Mercenary", "Uncharted Golden Abyss", "Gravity Rush", "Assassin's Creed Liberation" (both eventually remastered for PS4 and PS3 respectively), off the top of my head.
+ Very powerful hardware.
+ Great for immersive game experiences as well as quick gaming sessions. There's variety to fit anyone's taste.
+ Probably one of the best systems for JRPGs, visual novel style games, and Monster Hunter clones. If you're into any of those three categories, you should be happy with many of the games available for Vita.
+ As of November 2016, there are games still coming out for it, with plenty of 3rd party releases coming within the next year. You most likely won't hear about it from Sony, so make sure to stay up to date with specialized websites such as TheVitaLounge.net

Cons:
- Proprietary memory cards. Not only is it a hassle, these things are also VERY expensive. I was lucky enough to find a used 32GB card here on Amazon for 40 bucks, looks new and works like new. I would recommend getting at least a 16GB card if you're planning on getting lots of digital games. Otherwise an 8GB card might do the trick.
- Sony's lack of support. They messed up with very, very poor marketing strategies, and also by not giving Vita more exclusive titles. Look at what Nintendo did with the 3DS, it has its own exclusives that didn't get ported over to Wii U or any other console. That's how it's done. Sony is still on time to make Vita the perfect complement to PS4, too bad they have given up on it so early.
- 3rd party apps are few and don't get updated often. One example is the Netflix app... I was excited to be able to watch Netflix on my Vita. Yeah, most likely not going to happen often, since the app SUCKS. You can't change user profiles, so you get what you get, and the interface leaves a lot to be desired. Others, such as YouTube simply aren't available anymore.
- Some PS One Classics aren't playable on the Vita due to unresolved licensing issues between Sony and publishers. Such is the case with the Crash Bandicoot series, as well as other popular titles.
- Sub par speaker sound quality in my opinion. Headphones are definitely recommended.

All in all, you can't go wrong with the Vita, it's simply an amazing system. It's cheaper now and it has a huge library available regardless of what types of games you're into, but especially if you're into JRPGs and/or visual novels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the system

Love the system. It’s too bad that most people don’t know about it and it hasn’t sold well. The Switch is still superior but for a 4-year-old device, it’s up there. If they ever make a Switch Mini, this is the perfect size. It’s got a library of great PSP games for sale on the store, plus all the good Vita games. Quite a few good PS4 games started their lives on the Vita, like Gravity Rush, Persona 4 Dancing All Night, Severed, Toukiden, etc.

If you like games from Japan, you’ll have a blast here. It’s comfortable to hold and play with on long hours. Great battery life, in the range of 5-10 hours instead of 2-5 for Switch. I have both and I would say that the Switch is the hybrid console and the Vita a true portable console, in line with the 3DS but just way better graphics and resolution.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buena consola portatil
Reviewed in Mexico on July 20, 2015

I was unsure due to the sketchy listing title and lack of information. But I can say I did get a PS Vita Slim in Mint condition; I see some reviewers got damaged/scratched units... I guess I was lucky? Battery was DOA but after charging for an hour it booted up and continued to charge to full during the Mod. I am SUPER Happy with this and cannot express how much this is my Favorite Gaming Unit!
