UPDATE -I just wrapped on the filming of a short, shot in the deep woods of Washington state, and the Roxant Pro performed superbly, giving me super-smooth action on the numerous shots it was used for. Keep in mind that I was filming in a heavily wooded area (often in the rain) with heavy brush and ground cover to step (trip) over while moving with my rig, often walking backwards, and still--every shot using my Roxant was perfectly smooth, without that horrible "video" shake. I even had two very critical shots where I RAN AS FAST AS I COULD, over heavy brush, paralleling the actor in a side-scrolling shot, weaving in and out of trees and brush, and the result ... PERFECTLY SMOOTH footage with no video aberrations (like the dreaded Jello effect). I filmed using my trusty "old" Canon Rebel T3i at 24fps (even though I had a much-lauded Canon 7D on hand). My Roxant kept it's calibration throughout the 5 day shoot, removing and installing the hefty camera dozens of times. Almost no re-calibration was needed. Maybe a minute of tweaking. I even left it on a log in the rain, once. Oops. With our very tight shooting schedule, the Roxant never held us back.I absolutely love this device. The fact that it's hundreds or thousands of dollars less than "pro" stabilizers is irrelevant.Unfortunately, for this review, the film hasn't been released yet so I can't post a clip ... but I certainly will when it's ready. I've attach a raw frame in which I walked backwards through the brush (no trails), filming two actors trekking forward. I can't think of a more difficult test for this stabilizer.---------------------------------------------------It works. I can't believe it. I had purchased another "stabilizer" a couple of years ago that didn't make much difference, but this Roxant Pro stabilizer is the real deal. The stabilization is immediately apparent. And for the price? Unbeatable. The setup really only takes 5-10 minutes and isn't as difficult as some tutorials might seem. I used a Canon T3i which is a good size DSLR with an 18-55 lens (making it front heavy), and it worked great. There are already good sample videos out there, so I won't post another, but they aren't faked. It really does the trick. One tricky part is that when you pivot (swivel? or turn) left to right or vice versa the camera really lags because it's basically floating on a very smooth gimbal, but simply use a finger to control the camera when you make turns and everything will be fine.Oh, and if you want to have your DSLR's viewer flipped open (because you like to actually see what you're shooting) then you may need to consider the offset weight and slide the camera to the opposite side a bit before tightening it down. Takes a bit of adjustment, but not hard at all. My camera is a bit heavy on the right, so opening the viewer to the left actually balanced it out. (Like many, my viewer has the nice feature of folding into the center anyways.)Enough said. Well worth the very small price tag.
