Customers are mixed about the quality of the vacuum cleaner. Some mention that it performs well, while others say that it sucks. Some say that the vacuum has difficulty being effective when vacuuming around and under furniture, and the carpet attachment no longer works.

48 customers mention23 positive25 negative

Customers are mixed about the ease of cleaning with the vacuum cleaner. Some mention it's very nice to clean with, decent at cleaning carpet, and fantastic for cleaning stair steps. However, others say that it'd be difficult to get all of the dirt/cat hair to fall out of, too bulky, too heavy, and required regular cleaning. They also mention that it will collect debris and that it pushes the dirt toward their feet so that they have to lift it up.

"...And last, but certainly not least, is the unbelievable way you can clean the vacuum itself. You can actually wash the inside of the canister...." Read more

"...The debris does not gracefully and neatly fall in the trash can, it must be shaken or picked out, and often the outer shell has to be removed...." Read more

"...This is a great vacuum. It not only picks up the hair and noticeable dirt from floors and upholstery, but it doesn't spray fine particulates from..." Read more

"...but my complaints were that it was too bulky, too heavy, and required regular cleaning due to a long-haired dog living in the house...." Read more

46 customers mention23 positive23 negative

Customers are mixed about the suction of the vacuum cleaner. Some mention it's impressive, picking up everything, a ton of dust and particles, and human dander. However, others say that disappointment lies with the lack of strong suction, dirt being collected so it gets stuck and you have to manually dig. It just won't pick it up on some surfaces and debris like PET hair will stick on the side filter. The wand doesn't attach very well to the unit for storage, and when it is attached, it bumps something and the attachments fall everywhere. It's heavy, hard to store, and has no holder for attachments and doesn' t pick up like they expected.

"...-order hard floor attachment moves every which way you do and picks up everything...." Read more

"...Debris (like PET HAIR) will stick on the side filter which allows air in to drive the motor and slow down the performance of the “motorized parts.”..." Read more

"...Of course, it also picks up human dander, too...." Read more

Customers are mixed about the value of the vacuum cleaner. Some mention it's fantastic, easy to use, and worth every penny. However, others say that it'll break down after a few days and has cheap plastic parts.

"...If there's another vacuum like this, we've never seen one. Well worth every penny...." Read more

"...Make no mistake: this is an expensive vacuum. REALLY expensive. That being said, I feel like you get what you pay for." Read more

"...Speaking of the suction, it is undeniably good, but it holds the power head so tightly to the ground that it just pushes dirt around rather than..." Read more

"...So this product was a complete waste of A LOT of money, has hardly been used, and in less than a year has already been replaced..." Read more

36 customers mention25 positive11 negative

Customers have mixed opinions about the ease of use of the vacuum cleaner. Some mention that it is easy to handle and maneuver, and the attachments are very easy to use. However, others say that the process of emptying the canister is a joke, and that the cannister is hard to dump.

"...Not only that, but you can easily take apart the floor brush part that does carpet...." Read more

"...Switching tools is easy and each one is well designed for its use...." Read more

23 customers mention10 positive13 negative

Customers are mixed about the size of the vacuum cleaner. Some mention that the size is very handy and easy to store, taking up no more space than a typical canister vac. However, others say that the head is very small, the container is not very big, and the dust bin does seem to be smaller.

"...have to carry the tank by when you take it to empty it, which is rather small...." Read more

"...This machine takes up no more space than a typical canister vac, but it outperforms any canister or upright I've even used..." Read more

"...is attached, it rests in a leaning position that means it takes up a very awkward space in the closet, is correspondingly forever getting bumped,..." Read more

"...Speaking of living in a small space, the vacuum is physically small, however the footprint when stored is actually surprisingly large...." Read more

Customers are mixed about the durability of the vacuum cleaner. Some mention that it's CRAZY strong, has a solid build quality, and is reliable. Others say that the snap to hold it shut seems too fragile, and feels cheaply made. Some say that it broke after a few weeks.

Could not be more dissapointed

Could not be more dissapointed
I have never been more disappointed with a purchase than with this vacuum. It does not live up to the hype at all. I don’t even know where to begin…This Dyson replaced a mid-grade Kenmore vacuum that we had for 9 years. The Kenmore never had any issues but we decided to replace it with the Dyson because we wanted to save money on bags and filters, and my brother-in-law highly recommended his Dyson. I do make comparisons to the Kenmore in this review, I am not schilling for them, it is simply my only point of reference. We got this Cinetic Animal because we have a Saint Bernard and two cats. We wage a constant war against dust bunnies and fur tumbleweeds.Being bagless was the key feature that attracted us to the Dyson. The reality of a bagless vacuum is disappointing. The Dyson has to be emptied at least twice, if not 3 times, while we vacuum our 1600 sqft house (and we’re only vacuuming about 80% of that space). The capacity is ridiculously small, and the process of emptying the canister is a joke. The debris does not gracefully and neatly fall in the trash can, it must be shaken or picked out, and often the outer shell has to be removed. The reality of emptying the Dyson canister into the garbage can is that it is a huge mess and is better done outside. I don’t know how someone in an apartment, especially without a balcony, can manage to empty this without making a huge mess inside their house. The best place to empty it is outside, far away from the house, so the loose fur and dander can’t make their way back inside.Speaking of living in a small space, the vacuum is physically small, however the footprint when stored is actually surprisingly large. The Kenmore canister vacuum I had before sat upright on its end, and the wand and power head fit in a slot so it was very stable and took up a minimum of floor space. The Dyson remains on its wheels when stored, and the wand does attach in a slot, but it serves to make the footprint of the vacuum larger and the overall shape more awkward. This is compounded by the connection between the hose and the canister which doesn’t rotate or bend at all.Speaking of the hose, it does not articulate very well, it only has a limited range of motion at the base and the swivel, which prevents it from getting coiled up when you pivot around, is in the handle, and does not spin very freely (it is plastic on plastic) so the hose gets into an insufferable coil and I have to concentrate to un-spin it.The canister portion of the vacuum is prone to snagging on things and tripping over its own cord. The on/off switch is the same style as the cord recoil switch. This means, as I’m putting the vacuum away, I’m prone to accidentally pressing the power switch instead of the recoil switch. There’s no feedback unless the vacuum is plugged in, so the next time I plug it in it might turn on immediately. That is quite startling and annoying. In contrast the Kenmore had a convenient switch right on the handle for turning it on and off, and it wasn’t a toggle, it actually had an “on” and “off position.”There is no onboard storage for tools. Two tools can clip on to the wand, which is awkward, and the 3rd tool (the animal/upholstery power head) has nowhere to go.The way the tools are attached (while using them as opposed to storing them) is ill considered. It isn’t possible to attach and remove them with one hand, you have to let go of the wand handle and use both hands at the attachment point to remove a tool. The Kenmore power head had a great feature where I could use my foot to release it, so I could pull the wand out and not even have to bend over. With the Dyson I have to set down the wand, and bend over and use both hands to detach the head. The handle of the wand is not ergonomic. It causes wrist pain. The suction is very good and holds the vacuum head down to the carpet very firmly. The axis of the wand is below my wrist/arm axis, so as I’m pushing and pulling against this force it is exerting force on my wrist in an unnatural and painful way.Speaking of the suction, it is undeniably good, but it holds the power head so tightly to the ground that it just pushes dirt around rather than sucking dirt in. I’ve attached a video of me trying to vacuum up a simple dust bunny, this is very typical of pine needles as well. The people who designed this must not actually have pets or live anywhere that there are pine needles. The “power head” Is not particularly powerful. Both the main power head and the special upholstery/animal one are suction driven. Debris (like PET HAIR) will stick on the side filter which allows air in to drive the motor and slow down the performance of the “motorized parts.” And this “Animal” unit, after less than 5 months, has hair jammed into the bearing area of the beater bar to the point where the bar just stops at times.I whole heartedly do not recommend this Dyson. Every time I’ve used it I’ve drafted this review in my head and found more points against it. I gave my old Kenmore to my mother, and am sorely regretting that, because I doubt a new Kenmore will match the 9 year old one.
