Product Description
The Survival Tabs were developed more than 30 years ago and were inspired by the early space program. Due to zero gravity in space, American scientists theorized that astronauts might experience difficulty digesting food properly, potentially causing malnourishment. Of great importance was maintaining the astronaut's physical functions such as dexterity, stamina, coordination, and mental alertness. Thus began the search for a food product that would provide the daily nutrition needed to carry out missions, while meeting the tight storage requirements of spacecraft. By combining high biological value proteins, carbohydrates, and fatty acids with 100% USRDA of 15 essential vitamins and minerals in a delicious chewable tablet, The Survival Tabs provide the best possible nutrition in the smallest possible volume. Just as the space program has evolved, so have the uses for The Survival Tabs. With a significant 25-year shelf life, The Survival Tabs are ideal for long-term food storage. Because they are packed with vitamins and minerals to help sustain energy and are also lightweight and easy to carry, The Survival Tabs are being used by outdoor enthusiasts, busy professionals, athletes, and rescue teams around the globe.
The Survival Tabs are meant to keep you alive and going for months at a time. A person can survive 4-5 months by eating The Survival Tabs exclusively. One daily serving of 12 tablets contains 240 calories, which gives the body the basic daily nourishment required when the recommended calorie intake cannot be met. The Survival Tabs eliminate the need to forage for food in situations where you are lost, stranded, or trapped.
In an emergency situation, one 180-tablet bottle of chewable tabs supplies a person with 15 days worth of survival food based on the recommended consumption of 12 tablets per day. This can be stretched to a 30-day supply under extreme conditions. The Survival Tabs remain usable for 90 days once opened, before losing their efficacy. They have an unopened shelf life of 25 years. This makes them ideal to store in preparation for natural disasters.
The quality of the food we eat is more important than the quantity. Of a foods’ theoretical calorie content, 30-60% is unused by the body and converts to unhealthy fat. The Survival Tabs are so completely and quickly digested they have a 99% absorption rate. Within five minutes of consuming the tabs, 97% of the protein is available to repair and replace essential body tissues and fluids. These tabs were created for the Early Space Program using high-quality protein, carbohydrates and fat to provide the body with 100% of the daily essential vitamins and minerals required to maintain physical functions such as dexterity, stamina and coordination.

The Survival Tabs contain 100% of the U.S. RDA of 15 Essential Vitamins & Minerals. Made with the highest quality protein which is essential in survival situations where your body needs to assimilate as much as possible from what you eat. With most of the food, we eat 30%-60% of the calorie content leaves the body unused. The Survival Tabs have such a highly concentrated formula that 99% of their calorie content is absorbed by the body with 97% of the protein content being available to repair or replacement of muscles, nerves, etc.
SHELF LIFE AND SUSTAINABILITY
We have samples of The Survival Tabs that were produced in 1974-75. They have been stored at room temperature. We test them periodically and have found little if any, deterioration or loss of vitamin or food value. Our results showed negligible loss in these areas. Freezing temperatures will have no effect at all on these tablets. We would estimate the shelf-life for The Survival Tabs to be 25 years, but suggest rotating them to ensure maximum food value every 2-3 years.

GOD BLESS AMERICA
To try these out i just went the last two days eating minimally and only in the morning in order to get myself on the verge of having hunger problems, it also happens to be a nice hot couple days. I took a couple and made my way to a nice wooded park i know has a long trail and went for a hike, i took 4 prior to the hike and had 3 with me, prehydrating so i wouldnt have to carry my water bottle to travel light, i walked and sweated for a couple hours, going through the 3 i brought with me. Other than some brutal sun, (its 90 degrees in michigan in may, pretty warm) i did fine, am typing this as im sitting in my car afterwards, sipping water, not feeling like i havent eaten anything since an apple this morning when i normally would be keeling over sick from hunger. So i give this a thumbs up.
Some notes:
-they are pretty tasty, a lil chalky, but edible, they kinda taste like MRE dairy shakes, not bad, easy to eat
-packaging needs revising, its definitely airtight and protective, but its kinda bulky, could definitely do better with more compact packaging
^_ that said, for my hike, since it was relatively short, i just took the 3 and put them in a small ziploc which i then stashed in the pocket of my old patrol cap from basic
-you definitely want water with these
-you definitely should mind allergy information
-i wouldnt recommend these necessarily as camping or hiking rations as they are low in calories, you definitely would want something more substantial if you’re exerting yourself, but for survival, ill definitely be keeping these in my “s*** hit the fan” bag
-these are something good to keep you going until you can find more substantial sustenance, but not something you wanna try and live off of through an apocalypse (unless you REAAAAALLY have to).
-ive learned how my body functions or falters based on my diet, so ive learned to know my body, and these definitely made a difference
-MADE IN AMERICA- hot diggity
The flavor is decent. To me, they taste a lot like Pop-Tarts -- maybe just slightly worse. But altogether sweet and pleasant.
Clearly there is an appetite suppressant effect here, but you can get that with all kinds of other pills. Bioavailable vitamins and minerals are nice, and certainly welcome in a low-food situation. The problem I had was that even though I didn't feel too "hungry" after a few hours of testing, I started having other symptoms of significant hunger, such as weakness, slight dizziness, light headache, and the like. All of this abated soon after eating some real food. I ended up being able to cut a few hundred calories over the course of a day and still feel fine, but it's a hard sell to eat 12 of these and nothing else. Without other food, I'd still be feeling awful after twelve hours.
I think a lot of these survival-type products get away with too much because they use the magic word, "emergency". In an emergency, you're not going to be picky, and you don't need perfection. I admit there's value in a food that's lightweight, nutrient-dense, and has a long shelf-life. But if I had these and nothing else, I'd have to eat much more than one per hour.
Where I see better value is in non-emergency situations where real food isn't readily available and you'd otherwise resort to snacking. Rather than eat a candy bar, just pop one or two of these and it'll take the edge off. It's a lot cheaper than buying from a vending machine, too.
Top reviews from other countries
Packaging is bulky. I want to keep it in its original packaging and breaking it down into a hiking pack is a pain.
I was also under the impression that they were engineered to not induce thirst. I think that quality may be simply because there is not enough here to justify a glass of water. They may be good bait for something a little tastier. Will have to test that hypothesis.
