The lids appeared to be fairly sturdy and sealed very well. I find that when I shake up salad with salad dressing inside, I don't get any spilling or spray. The bases seem standard quality for meal prep containers, though I find that after months of washing and use, they haven't warped and have held up incredibly well. Together, the lid and the base fit together very well and stay together in my bag and don't leak or dump food everywhere. Freeze well, wash well, microwave well. What more can you ask for.
I have had only one failure, and that was where a base cracked on the side where the lid snaps on. Fatigue, maybe that's the one that always got picked to be used, who knows. Considering I've been using them since April with only this one failure (and they had already given me 2 free) I am not super stressed about the breakage.
These are convenient for leftovers, salads, snacks, whatever food you want to put in them. Makes after dinner cleanups a breeze because you arent hunting for lids and bases. It's one type of lid, 1 type of base. That's it. On a side note, these make the keto diet really easy to deal with. When these eventually wear out, I will be happy to purchase them again.
I was not given any free product or any of the stuff like that for this review. I bought it, used it, reviewed it. Good deal, good service.
For the serious lunch prepper down to people like me, just trying to get our lunches made and aspire to organization, these are the containers to go for. They weigh little and fit together with a minimum of trouble. Lids snapped on stay on. Sometimes a little too well, I've had to turn to my coworkers for assistance prying off their vacuum seal. But let that speak to the quality of the construction and heavy-duty plastic snaps. Your food won't spill out. I've turned one of these upside down with a wet salsa over quinoa and vegetables, jostled it around in a brisk walk, and still discovered not a drop leaking out of place. Is this what they mean about food security on the news? Yippee for me, my cupboards have that covered.
You can throw these from the freezer to the microwave without warping, though the lids will sink inwards slightly if you don't vent appropriately, word to the wise. None of the deformation lasted long, though I rapidly changed my behaviour to avoid long-term damage. Fitpackers go right into the dishwasher if you don't want to handwash them, and come out clean in their original shape. They hold up to hard scrubbing in the sink to get off dried pasta sauce, and they come out of my toddler's impromptu drumming session good as new. Sturdy products that take heat well are valuable around here.
Best of all, these are the right size for lunch or dinner portions. I'm able to easily fit a variety of foods in, whether chopped up grilled chicken or frozen broccoli or a cup of rice. Never feels like the container is about to spring open or crack. I'm a convert.
The containers feel a little flimsy at first which I didn't really mind. It just needs to open and close and hold food. They stack perfectly filled or in the open position in storage.
My only concern is today is February 19th. It's been less than 2 full months and I just threw away 2 containers because they are broken further than I can use. Many of the containers have cracks or chips along the sides. They close very tightly and can be difficult to open at time. I store my containers in the frige, never frozen. I also only hand wash them.
In Fitpackers defence I do open and closes the containers more than average. Once to add rice, close and put in fridge. Open again to add veggies, close and put in frige. Open again to add meat. Close put in frige. They day I use them I open in morning to add sauce or spice and close. open to eat and close. And lastly open to wash them when I get home. 6 times per use they are opened. It's been 8 weeks of meal prepping which means opened and closed almost 50 times and a few of the containers still show no wear at all.
Sadly I did just get my shipment yesterday of a different brand which I am going to give a chance. The price point is almost double what Fitpacker offers. They also don't give me a free container. I hope these new containers work great and last forever. But if they dont, I'll have no problem buying a new pack of containers when I start to wear them out.
All in all these are great containers for people just starting to do meal prep. A little difficult to open. Longevity is good but not great. Company is awesome and they seem very helpful.
