Why did I wait so long to order this! WOW!
I have been thinking of ordering this for a while and even read the reviews, finally ordered it and received it. I thought I would reread some of the reviews looking for hints from people before I started to use it. One of the things I came across often was that it was not easy to see how much water you were to put in since the measurements on the side were difficult to see. I looked at my red Pasta cooker and picked up a Sharpie Ultra Fine Point marker and slowly ran in along the edge of the raised line for #1. I had to go slowly and carefully because it isn't raised much, but I was easily able to underline for #1 and #2. I also used the marker to darken the I and II on each measure level. I let it dry, for a short while, then used it for the first time. It was easier to see the level to add water! Another hint I tried was to stir it half way through to prevent sticking. My wheat spaghetti was perfectly cooked al dente, it was easy to clean, and I was sold on Fasta Pasta.

I love this thing. As long as you don't need to make more than 4 servings at a time it's my pasta cooker of choice for all pasta. Just follow the simple directions that come on the chart with it. Couldn't be easier to cook pasta. The top which you put on after the pasta is cooked so you can strain it makes it even easier to use. No extra strainer to wash now. I've bought this twice because I gave one to a friend who liked it so much and so bought another one for myself. Highly recommended.

Overall I think the Fasta Pasta is a good value and exceeded my expectations. I really do not think it cooks Pasta much faster than the stovetop, but has the distinct advantage of cooking without me having to stand over it and monitor the process. That is a big plus. I can do something else while my pasta is cooking.

Cooking was relatively straight forward and my first batch came out just fine and clean up was easy. I can't say I would cook all my pasta using this, but definitely when I am cooking for one I will use it all the time.

I bought this because my 12 year old wanted to learn to cook. We tried initially with gas, and they left the burner in the igniter phase. We tried this and they seemed motivated enough to use it. With daily use since purchase, this also has been used by my 8 year old. With this cooking tool, children can be supported to contribute meaningfully and develop their cooking skills in safe ways with guidance, supervision, and easily develop the learning of life skills so that we all feel good about making dinner.

Although this is a 5 star product for me, note that supervision of children is required as there is no 'click' fit to secure the lid. What keeps it tight is kids small fingers, and the smaller serving sizes we tried did indeed work with the little hands. We are able to very quickly cook a second helping if extras were needed, so that raised the star to a 5 as well, despite the lack of secure lid.

It cleans exceptionally easily. I got bright red so it is easy to say "look in the cupboard and get the red thing". They already know what "the red thing for cooking pasta is" after one use. The cooking chart is cool, and I will laminate it for the kids to have a reference, since we keep a number of pasta styles around. The principal is pretty simple though, in determining "size" it coincides with numbers and services and water. This ease of use can translate well into portion sizing when they are older, and combat obesity and other overeating, though I am not sure that was the design for this. It is simple enough a child with supervision and guidance can utilize the fasta-pasta, which makes me feel great about the purchase. It's also always fun when there is something kids can do to help with dinner. I am especially grateful for options that do not involve using flame and gas to teach independent cooking skills.

Steaming for long periods of time may end up affecting the circuitry of the microwave. It does save on amount of dishes used to make spaghetti. I wasn't sure with the product when it first arrived but now it is utilised very regularly. It is so simple to use and it cooks pasta to perfection every time. Just pop in the amount of pasta you require, cover with water to the upper graduated mark, into the microwave for 10 minutes set to high and that is it. It is important not to put the lid on when it is in the microwave. The lid is put on after it comes out so that you can drain the pasta, the water comes out of slits in the lid at one end. You just drain the pasta, take off the lid, allow it to steam for a minute and then pour the pasta into a serving bowl or directly onto a plate. The hard shiny surface makes it a breeze to clean with just a soft cloth and soapy water.
Virtually an idiot proof way of cooking excellent pasta.
