Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
The Bottle is too short (length) will not fit with recommended measurements of the two Mizzen gaffs. the bottle it too short (height), the large mast will not fit. Cut to 2.260 measured from the bottom of the ship.
Line K will not allow the mast to collapse. A solution is leave the line connected to the bottom of foremast long and not tied to the fore mast. This will be a second pull string to rise the masts. Then glue and cut. difficulty is advanced due to the errors. would be nice if the ship was larger and bottle matched better.
I wanted to build a ship in a bottle and there were no other choices but this one on Amazon. This is VERY tiny so make sure you have proper tools to use, for example, a tool that can cut a hole through a toothpick. I would also suggest finding an instant bonding glue because the pieces are so tiny and difficult to hold and wait for glue to dry. I lose patience after working on it for a while, so it is not complete yet.
I got this as a gift for someone who mentioned they always wanted to do one. I think he’ll enjoy it. It was delivered quickly. We shall see what he thinks about it on Christmas. It looks challenging but fun.
I really enjoy making different model kits and was looking forward to making this but after seeing what it actually included, I decided to return it.
This kit is an absolute joke. Step 1 of the instructions is to paint the inside of the bottle to look like the sea. Step 2 is to shape the hull. They don't even give you pictures for either of these steps!! The only 'pictures' in the instructions are hand drawn and really not at all helpful. I tried referencing a picture of the actual USS Constitution, but the hull base they give you is not shaped like the one on the actual ship. You'd have to do a LOT of reshaping. At this point I decided that I'd probably be able to get a better result if I just bought the raw materials and made a model from scratch.
BTW, at the time I'm writing this review, some other reviewer has a picture of a very nice looking ship in a larger bottle with a five star review. That picture is not from this kit, don't be fooled.
