I downloaded the viewer app from the manufacturer's web site and plugged it into my Windows PC and that was it. The camera provided crisp, bright images of the tiny surface mount components I needed to work on. The light and focus work very well at it's all powered from the USB cable so no additional power supplies or wires. The cable supports regular USB-A with a USB-C adapter so it will work with everything.
The zoom from 50-250x is a bit of a misnomer. There is no zoom control; rather it works like a regular microscope where you move the object closer or further away to get the desired picture. The focus control then allows you to see the picture clearly at whatever distance you have decided to view from.
It comes with a sturdy stand and mount that work well. Overall, a really nice product and a very good value.

To get a really upclose and personal look at something, you almost HAVE to have this stabalized by attaching it to its included stand, which is somewhat cheap and flimsy and hard to manipulate to "exactly" where you want it, leaving a lot to be desired. Trying to look at something at full power using it handheld? Forget it. The slightest bit of movement at that magnification will throw it out of focus so it HAS to be stabilized and completely steady.
I really wish this scope had an autofocus feature or someway to adjust the focus via the settings on the phone/computer you are viewing the image on. Instead, you have to adjust the focus and light intensity manually with dials on the device itself, and again, THE SLIGHTEST bit of movement at such high magnification will throw the whole image out of wack, so it's really hard to fine tune the focus and light intensity without moving the device and having to start all over. Same for the snapshot button on the back of the device, although with that you actually can take a snap from the computer/phone screen without touching the device..
So in conclusion, if you're on a budget and/or don't get frustrated easily and are willing to play with and learn the eccentricities of this scope, go for it! If you want want something with better/more features and is easier to work with, maybe keep your options open, but I DO recommend this micrscope!

I accidentally wrote a bad feedback on this product. Apologies.
I got another item that does the same thing. But this one is much better.
Addendum 5/6/2024: Swapping the gooseneck stand for the much more sturdy Ninyoon Universal Microscope Stand (on Amazon) made all the difference for high magnification work. Results are now excellent.

The leg with suction cup is no joke, its really sturdy and holds cam really still. I am really happy with my purchase and its well worth of £40. Primary use is for computer chips and repairs. Resolution this cam can provide you with focus is absolutely fantastic!
I did not test it on Chrome OS or android yet as I was not in need yet.
Trotzdem: Tolles Mikroskop. Das Ergebnis ist sein Geld wert. Und es hat mir sehr weitergeholfen.
Okay, with that out of the way, here's my review. This little camera is amazing. Easy setup and easy install of the software on Windows. The software is intuitive. Perhaps the best feature is the adjustable picture resolution in the settings. Resolution ranges from 160x120 up to 1600x1200. It's with that maximum resolution that I took the picture of the beetle included with this review. The depth of field is excellent. The software allows for photos, adjustable time-lapse photography, and video recording.
I bought this unit to give me some magnification to help prepare slides for my "big" microscope. But this little scope works so well that I'm using it for all manner of looking at the itty-bitty world around us - things that are too large to put under the big scope but too small to see in any detail with the naked eye. Easy to use and just a lot of fun, too.
As for magnification, that's achieved by bringing the lens and the object being looked at closer together (or further apart). There's a clear plastic ring at the bottom of the camera that allows the camera to stand over the object being viewed. To achieve maximum magnification, take the camera off the adjustable arm and place it right over the object. As you turn the focus, the image becomes sharp, then continue turning the focus ring - the image goes out of focus, but as you turn, it comes back into focus at the maximum magnification.
My one criticism is that there are no instructions in the package to explain how to use/change magnification. However, their customer support is great. I sent a query about this on the company's support page on their website. I received a reply within hours that was very clear and helpful. However, it would have been better to have the magnification information included in the setup/how to use instructions that came with the camera.
I highly recommend this. Great for adults and kids alike. A+
