Amazing mask. Great for flaky oily skin. Prevent cakey makeup
I have extreme oily skin, so naturally I'm still experiencing acne as an adult because of it. And because of acne, my skin is always flaky with bits of skin hanging here and there. It's extremely hard to get rid of. I tried all the YouTube tricks to exfoliate but I never get a smooth canvas to put makeup on and it always end up cakey and the makeup melts off my face bc the oil comes out after a couple hours. I had to use expensive (for a college student) moisturizer $25/oz to keep down the flakes, and barely effective. Normally, I put on the mask 30min and moisturizer to prep my skin for the next 3 days or so and it worked great. But After leaving on the mask overnight once by accident, the next morning my face was so smooth. No more flakes of skin. My foundation and powder go on flawlessly and it lasted more than twice as long as normal before melting off. I can use this mask now together with just a cheap moisturizer maybe $2-3/oz and still get away with beautiful smooth makeup.
PROS:

5. Reduce oil production and thus acne production
CONS:
1. Storage and handling have to be careful to keep clean
2. Can be messy when washing it off your face bc it's black
3. Might not be for all types of skin
WARNING:
1. store in the fridge and use a clean spoon to scoop out just the amount of mask for use every time or you'll contaminate it and it will grow mold.
2. Not for everybody's skin. Some people might be more sensitive than others. I can leave this mask on for three four hours and still be fine but my friend left it on for two hours and her face felt tender afterward.

This mask has only one flaw, but for me it is negligible.
I really enjoy this mask (for the most part, anyway.)Putting the mask on-- it stays very cold where I store it. So it is very refreshing going on the face. It's a bit gelatinous, but that just makes it easier to build up a bit to your liking. It doesn't smooth on evenly, but again, that isn't really a bit deal; it just means you'll be left waiting for small patches to dry while the rest of your face is dried. You can always smooth the thicker parts down as it dries a bit.People keep commenting on the smell, but I get no smell from the product at all while I'm using it. Maybe I'm just not paying enough attention, but I don't really think the smell is worth mentioning at all because it's so faint if it's even there after application.It comes off SUPER easy, and while I do wish it had a bit of grit to it for exfoliation, my skin feels amazing afterward. Short term my skin feels a lot more firm, but that wears off within the half hour of it coming off. Lasting, my skin feels worlds smoother and it takes down the redness in face, especially in my cheeks.I have noticed one downfall in the product: While it's drying it does drive me slightly mad with the itching. BUT, it doesn't irritate my skin at all once it's wiped off-- no red irritated spots, no burning. It's just the feeling of when you have a scab that is drying out and healing. Irritating, almost not worth it... until you wash it off and realize "ahh, this is why I put up with that." haha But plenty of people don't have any itching, so it's a game of chance as to if you will have any itching feelings during the drying.The first photo is obviously with the product on. I let it get a bit gloppier than usual, so it took the darker spots significantly longer to dry than the parts that are already dried (light grey is the dried parts, dark grey are the wet parts). In the after photo, you can see that my skin has little to no redness aside from my oh so lovely breakouts. Normally, my cheeks and the lower corners of my nose have plenty of redness. I didn't get close enough to the corner of my nose this time to make a difference, so you can just use that as a reference if you can see the bit of redness to that little area. By the following week, however, the redness is back, so hopefully that will improve the more I use this product.I have only used the product twice now, so I will be sure to update if I notice it improving my breakouts.

I bought this clay after a friend shared some with me. We had used it on our faces and hair during a trip to the Korean bath house, and I was super impressed, so I bought [[ASIN:B00UFDHT06 Molivera Organics Bentonite Clay]] and Dead Sea Mud Mask by Pure Body Naturals to compare and see if there was any difference.
The bentonite clay is a powder that can be mixed with either apple cider vinegar or water to make a paste. It can be used on hair or face. The Dead Sea mud is already premixed. Both smell fine, but if you mix bentonite clay with vinegar, it can burn your nostrils. I mixed with apple cider vinegar for this test. Smeared each mud on half my face.
Comparison impressions:
Dead Sea Clay is faster to go on because it's ready mixed. It's smooth and creamy. It left my skin cleansed but not overdry. Some oils were left on my skin after using the clay. This jar is smaller than the Bentonite mask.
Bentonite clay mixed with vinegar -- the smell was nearly overpowering! I don't think I will do that again, as you can see in the picture that my face actually swelled under that mixture. Those people seeing firmness after using the clay may not be seeing actual firming, but swelling instead. This clay stripped my skin of all oils. ALL.
Both sides of my face felt smooth after the test, but you can see that the Bentonite side was swollen. Both masks are good options, with Bentonite being the cheaper version, and Dead Sea Mud more convenient. I won't be doing the apple cider vinegar mixture again due to the swelling, so now you know not to as well.
