I read articles about it being great for grandparents and it was true! It is SO easy to install, making it very easy to take out and put back into your car. The click-tight feature quickly makes the car seat very stable.
I rated leg room a 4, because before I turned the seat facing forward, those long legs were folded up at the back of the seat. But that’s also the new regulations requiring toddlers to face backward for a longer period of time.
It’s a tad bit heavy for this grandma, but I can handle it and I know the weight makes it safer.
I cannot say enough about the quality, convenience and ease of using this car seat. You won’t be disappointed!
Main Selling Point: Very narrow. We purchased because we have a sedan, and wanted to fit our 1-1/2 year old in this, plus a 6-year old, and a 4-year old in booster style car seats, all along the back bench in a Toyota Camry. They all fit nicely.
I did a lot of research before selecting this as the best narrow car seat for the money. Paid $200 in 2018. After 6 months of use still happy with the purchase.
Con: we swap car seats with grandparents who babysit our kids. This is extremely difficult for old people to install. It’s not heavy or awkward - it is just different from traditional car seats and/or those that hook on to the anchor clips in newer cars. The click-tight utilizes your vehicle’s seatbelt, and then has a ratcheting system that removes any slack from the vehicles seat belt. Removing and installing took my father-in-law 55 minutes the 1st Time - he’s a doctor for reference. It took me 5 minutes to install the 1st time, but I watched a YouTube video 1st.
Am I saying i’m smarter than my father-in-law? Of course not, I’m just pointing out that how to install and remove this thing is not obvious.
Pros:
-I love the safety features of this seat.
- It's easy to adjust the straps and recline.
-It installs like a dream. The click-tight feature is the best!
-Machine washable padding is key.
Cons:
- Limited leg room for extended rear-facing. This seat is not ideal for a child with really long legs (my almost 3yo is 29lbs, 38inches tall). While I know it is safe still, my almost 3 year old is complaining that her "legs are crunched" and she can't find a comfortable position for her legs.
-This carseat is deep front to back. Front passengers may find themselves squished close to the dashboard.
- Lots of cracks and crevices that are impossible to clean leading into a sealed base. (We had a few hours of carsickness, where vomit got into the base of the seat. I called the company and was told there is no way to take the bottom apart to clean it, but thtavi could use a butter knife and paper towel to get in as best as possible. We just had to let it air out and dry out.)
-The top of the seat cover has nothing to hold it onto the back of the carseat, so it often slips off, exposing the plastic. This isn't a safety issue, just annoying.
