I really like this maul! I have it paired with the Fishers X25 axe and they are a perfect combo.This maul is the perfect weight. It is not so heavy you can't swing it over and over. You can really get a rhythm going on a stubborn log. But rarely does a log resist busting when using this. You can hear the satisfying sound change as the maul lands when the log is busted internally. It goes from a whacking to deeper thud and you know it has given in to the weight and sharpend steel of this maul.There is no vibration in the handle. No matter how long you use it, your hands do not hurt.The anti-vibration tech Fishers has really works. I can split for hours and it never hurts my hands.I have used it drive in a few wedges and it works like a champ.Whatever they use to make this from is amazing. I have not had to sharpen it yet. It is still just like it was brand new. It holds a very sharp edge and cuts through white oak, red oak and hickory like butter. If you have to split wood, this maul is the way to go. I can't wait to go cut some more just so I can use this again.

I have used a couple of wedges with a 8 pound sledge hammer on wood until I could get the size down to what my 3.5lb axe could handle. The Fiskars 6lb maul is a nice substitute for both. Not tiring like the hammer and doesn't fail like the axe.

Its light enough that if you are not a manly man you will still look cool when splitting wood. You can mount this on your overland truck you only drive to work in case you ever come across a piece of wood that needs splitting.

Bought this to split up a Eucalyptus tree we had cut down made easy work of it (for the most part). There were times I wished I had a slightly heavier Maul but it works great overall. This has now split about 3-4 cords of wood and looks almost brand new.

The handle is easy on your hands and is not too slippery to use when wet. Highest possible ratings on this one!!! Fiskars never disappoints.

This is the best maul I have used! Allegedly, there are better malls but they all cost 2x-3x more. Since I bought the Isocore maul from Fiskars, I rarely use my splitting wedges. Most wood I can split with my Fiskars X27 splitting axe, aka "Greased Lightning ". For the really tough wood I use the Isocore maul. The only occasional dilemma is this maul will really get stuck in a log. Otherwise, this is a fantastic tool!!!

I needed to dig a small trench adjacent to a landscaping border, I had previously installed to keep drainage stones in place. This tool is sharp, solid and made quick work of it.
