When setting this up, I fully wash the inside and outside. After reading the directions on how to set up the refill indicator, I was able to program it with no problem I was amazed to see how quickly this filter worked. I have two of these now, one on the counter and one in my refrigerator. The one on the counter I use for my soups and also for watering plants. The one in the refrigerator is nice cool water to drink. The water comes out very fresh without a chemical smell where I live I actually have very chlorinated water , I do not smell the chlorine and I do not have that foul taste anymore. The filters are easy to exchange and also found on Amazon. I will definitely purchase this again for anyone that needs one in my family.

I had a larger Brita pitcher years ago and didn't like it. I needed one and after a long time, decided to give Brita another chance. This newer generation is really nice. I couldn't get the lid to stay on the old one and it would fall off as I was pouring water out (deal breaker for me and why I tossed the old one). The lid on this model fits well and is secure in place with an easy to read/understand indicator that tells me when the filter needs replaced.
The water has a pleasant flavor. Kind of a misnomer because there isn't much flavor, which is what I was looking for. My tap water often has a heavy chlorine content and at certain times of the year, there is a strange algae-like quality to it. Hence my need. The filtered water from this pitcher is clean with no residue or sediment.
It's easy to use and easy to clean. I recommend reading the care instructions before you use it. I was able to get the insert out to wash it rather easily and putting the filter in was pretty self-explanatory. There is a "right way" to put it in and it sort of "clicks" into place.
I've only been using it 2 or 3 weeks, but so far this one is MUCH better than previous versions of it.
