This if a review of the BV9384NVI researched many head units and had narrowed my search to either the Sony XAV-AX200 or JVX KV-V840BT.I wanted to use Android Auto for navigation, have a DVD/CD slot, and decode FLAC files from USB thumb drive, and have a unit that was true Double DIN to fit the aperture in my 1996 Ford Explorer. In the end, after reading of implementation difficulties with Android Auto, I decided I did not want to spend $300+ to be a Beta Tester. The Boss units with FLAC capability and built-in GPS/Navigation plus SD and USB reader and Aux port offered a feature set only matched in $500+ units form the majors (JVC, Sony, Pioneer, Kenwood).Amazon had a customer returned unit on sale for $96 so I took an inexpensive gamble.I installed it a month ago and have used it for about 15 hours. My Observations:GPS Nav works great - I placed the antenna on a metal mending plate on the underside of my dash - invisible. Signal strength is excellent (9-10 Sats minimum). Female nav voice is clear. Maps (from NDrive) are stored on a removable 8GB SD (included) which can be placed in your PC for SW updates or expanded map purchases (Beyond US) or different voices.Audio - the unit is musical and will play quite loudly and crisply. There is audible hiss at the lowest volumes settings (up to 2 or 3). The hiss is present only when a source is selected, otherwise it is silent. I thought this would bother me - as I consider myself an audiophile (20K home system) - but I do not notice it at all when driving.Volume control knob is awesome - good feel with detents and can adjust the volume slowly.Past 75% the unit plays louder than I can bear.BT Connectivity - Instantaneous with my LG V20 and stable. No issues. It pairs as soon as I start the car - no user intervention.BT Voice calls - the built-in microphone works well and I was happy I did not have to run an extra external mic and cable. Friends report good clarity overall and their voice through the car speakers is superb. Some friends have said sometimes it sounds like I'm in a tunnel.DVD Player - I watched part of one movie. It was fine. Screen was sharp and colors were good. The safety interlock is trivial to bypass. Its a simple ground connection unlike some units (e.g. Pioneer which require a sequence of ground connections to enable the DVD player.CD Player - worked perfectly.Safety Notifications - Nothing - No annoying safety screen or keys to depress each time you start the car. It just loads the song you were listening to at the conclusion of your last trip and starts playing, or the radio station, etc.AUX Input - its on the front panel. Have not tried it.Camera Input - in back of unit - have not tried it.Streaming - have not tried it since all my music is in FLAC files on USB and SD.FLAC on USB and SD - works perfectly - crisp beautiful sound.Only issue is I have 2000 FLAC files (songs) on my Sandisk USB and Samsung SD card and the Boss just gives me a long list rather than grouped by directory tree. I'm sure there is a way around this but it does not bother me much to scroll through the list.Touch screen - normally responsive but sometimes I have to go back and try again because it misreads a key press in the sub menu settings. A touch pen is included and it prefers this. One nice attribute is each default source volume can be changed individually - so that the Radio Tuner, CD, Flac USB/SD, DVD, Navigation etc, all have the same volume setting. So switching sources keeps same volume.Radio tuner works fine - good sensitivity. I live in the PNW in a remote area and can access many radio stations that my original OEM Ford Tuner could not detect.Installation was quick (2 hrs). I had to dremel 0.2 and 0.1 inches of material from the upper and lower interior edge of the bezel to accept the unit but it did not take long and the external visible fit is perfect. I used the plastic FMK552 installation kit to hold the unit against the inside bezel (replacing the OEM clips). I used the Metra 70-5600 kit to match the Ford harness. On the Ford with premium sound the blue wire on the long connector powers the car amp and must be tied to the PControl wire from the Boss.I do not know yet if the unit will be reliable but thus far no issues and very pleased with the purchase and the cost savings.

I bought this to replace the stock head unit in my subaru and have now had this in for several months, and so far very little complaints, mostly for the price.

    Pros:
-This thing fits right in my dash and was pretty much a direct replacement for my stock double din
-Quality of the head unit and the buttons seem as sturdy as any other main brand head units I saw in store, and has an actual volume knob instead of volume button, which was a must for me
-Screen is bright and very responsive to touch and swipe
-Wiring was fairly easy if you know what you are doing, and all wires were clearly labeled (I recommend buying an aftermarket factory harness for your car, so you can cut the wires on that extra harness instead of the only hard wired into your car. It will make installation much easier, and will enable you to be able to take the unit out much easier without cutting any wires if it ever needs to come out)
-The built in mic in the front of the head unit works fairly well as long as you have the windows closed, and people seem to be able to hear me ok as long as I speak relatively loud and clear
-Phone connectivity is quick as long as you already have bluetooth already turned on with your device when head unit boots up, and I have not had any problems with it disconnecting
-Music streaming works great, and is mostly seamless. I have used it to play spotify, as well as music on my phone. Aux cord works just as well
-Head unit boots up fairly quickly once car is turned on (within 4-5 seconds) which is just as quick as most normal brands
-SD card slot allows for video playback, adding your own pictures as backgrounds on the screen, and you can also use it as a hard drive to play music on the head unit
-GPS seems to work fairly well, and is comprehensive
-Plays HD radio, and plugs right into your OEM AM/FM factory plug (make sure you don't to connect the "power antenna" wire though, otherwise you won't have any reception)
-Can't beat the price if you are looking for something with touch screen, bluetooth and gps
-Great look and presentation on all the built in apps (radio, phone gps and all)

    Cons:
    -No Sirius/XM support
-Even though it has HD radio, and it does tell you the artist and name of song if the station supports it, the writing for the description is very small in the corner, and hard to read (but I knew this going in from reviews, and this was not much of a con)
-GPS antenna wire is not very long, which was a pain because I did not want to mount it to the roof of the car, and wanted to instead run it to the rear of my under the rear window (looks much cleaner as I did not want to have stuff on the outside of my car) It's sitting on my front dash for the moment, until I stop being lazy, and extend the wire myself and run it to where I want
-Everytime you turn the head unit on, and your phone connects, it will have to redownload all your contacts and recent calls and all. The good news is it does this quickly, and it will only do it if you tell it to (there's a refresh button that's always there on the phone screen you go to to place calls) the other good news, is that you can always initiate the call by using siri on your phone (or "ok google" in my case) and it will still go through your bluetooth, and simply say "unknown contact" instead of having persons name. Again, knew this going in
-GPS takes almost over a minute to load up if you try to use it immediately after booting up the unit, which is longer than the more expensive unit in my other car takes, but barely a con because GPS was just a bonus for me for this unit (Mainly wanted this unit for the other features)
-Bluetooth mic COULD be better, although it works fine, and unfortunately there is not an option for an aftermarket one on this model, unless you know what you are doing and want to hard wire one in there (which I thought about, and is doable, but decided the one that is built in worked well enough for the amount I make phone calls)
    -No texting support

Overall, still 5 stars, because this unit does everything that units over twice the price and that some main brands do. Quality seems just as good as some of them as well. If you are looking for a low cost replacement for your daily commuter and don't make too many phone calls and only need basic functions with the great look of a touch scree, this thing is perfect for your daily.

Great product at a very reasonable price. Great customer support from BOSS. I messaged them that I was from Canada and needed to find out how to get the Canadian maps. They are sending me an SD card in the mail with the maps on it, no charge. Awesome customer service.
