I had no issues at all installing this card and having it work without any problems.
All I did was use the current drivers from the website. And then reboot after. Nothing else.
No device manager tweaking or any other WiFi changes on my computer or router/modem.
Using Windows 10 and with whatever updates were available as of this date.
The big selling point for me with this particular card was not needing that additional FUSB connection that most of these WiFi cards require for some reason. My motherboard doesn't have that.
And also that huge heatsink!
I went from getting 72mbps download, 15 mbps upload -- with a wired Centurylink DSL connection.
to
T-Mobile 5G, wireless -- 492 mpbs download, 106 upload.
The ping and latency are higher than a wired connection, but that doesn't bother me.

The ping and latency are higher than a wired connection, but that doesn't bother me.
Wanted reliability, driver support and a quality brand name above all else, even purchase price. Doesn't hurt that the price was $18
Difficulties with installation came right away; The PCI bracket that came pre-installed with the board was slightly bent and not entirely linear - causing problems with lining up the screw hole with my Antec 300 Mid Tower's pre drilled spots which I know to be manufactured well.
I had to use pliers to bend the bracket to a position where it would work, and even still a gap was created for air to leak through (bracket not entirely flush.) All the jostling and attempting to "push" the alignment in place caused the PCIe to become unsettled.
Not being able to pass POST because the adapter card was not seated properly made me wonder everything from if it damaged my machine (if I damaged my machine) if the device was unseated (like RAM) or the TP-Link card itself was faulty.
Long story short, install was physically a pain due to this unit getting through QA. I am sure Amazon or the manufacturer would happily exchange, but I needed a card ASAP and I knew there was not likely to be a functionality issue if I could get it working.
Speaking of functionality - it works superbly. Fired up right away, and after a quick install from the included mini CD-ROM, I was up and running on my local 300N network. Range is pretty good considering my machine is behind a desk on the ground I get near full signal at 22mbps at 25 ft from the router. I installed this card on a W7 64bit machine.
All in all this is a good product and it ended up fitting the bill for what I needed. Docked one star for poor QA from the factory.
