My mother-in-law recently moved into assisted living & the footprint of her new home is very small. She really wanted a coat tree as she has lots of visitors. So I searched for something that had to meet specific criteria: multipurpose, nice looking, sturdy, not too long/not too wide.
I went back & forth between this one and another that was comparable in size but about $75 more & more cottage looking with a lift up bench seat. Here are the things I like & why this one won out for me: the addition of baskets would allow hidden storage. Without the baskets, it's a nice place to set shoes out of the walkway. The bench is wide enough & holds the weight to actually sit down & use the bench. This may sound silly but the space between the hooks and top shelf allow enough wall space to add a decorative item - my mother-in-law LOVES her knicknacks! The additional top shelf is another bonus & it was easy for her to reach. I was mostly happy that this fit right inside her door without sticking too far out that you'd hit the corners. It's a nice transition piece from the kitchen to the living room.
For the price, easy of assembly, and quality it was a great purchase that kept me at the #1 daughter-in-law for the holiday season! ;O)
