First off, let me just say that the customer service of this company is by far one of the best ones I have ever experienced. Since each one of these packages is hand selected and put together, mistakes happen and things get forgotten. I contacted them and they PROMPTLY sent me the missing item. No questions asked. Super fast shipping. I absolutely LOVE that.
My husband and I went to visit one of his Military buddies out in FL Who just opened his own brewery a year ago and we came back home inspired. I got this kit for my husband as a gift and as soon as it came in, we began brewing our Hefeweizen. The instructions are super easy and clear and you literally got everything you need right under tour fingertips. After a 2 week fermentation period, we tried the (then just a little bit lively but not super carbonated) fermented beer and it was GREAT. So we were hopeful when we began bottling the beer and carbonating it.
We ended up with 34 bottles and a mini keg full of beer from this one batch. We hosted a little beer unveiling and it was GREAT.
My husband has since placed a few other orders from the company through their site and we currently have a small batch of a Blonde Ale that he put together fermenting up.
We are about to place another order and begin brewing something else!
With the holiday season upon us, this would be an AMAZING gift to give your spouse, parent, sibling or friend. Trust me, they would love it. My husband even convinced one of his work buddies to get a kit as well and begin brewing at home too.

Nice kit, but little things you should know
Nice kit. I just bottled 48 beers and could of bottled at least 2 more, but only was prepared for 48. Rest In Peace left over beer. This kit comes with almost everything you need. I did have to buy some beer bottles and some full bottles I drank to get to 24, you can not use twist off caps so finding pry off beer was hard at a reasonable price. This kit only comes with 12 beer labels so if you are going to label your beer bottles you will need to purchase labels also, I opted to keep my bottles label free for now, easier to clean.instructions are lacking, you can google a video or two, but still I missed a couple of things I caught later. It comes with two sanitation packets and the way the instructions read I ended up using both on brew day, at separate times where I was supposed to save the original solution for the second part of the sanction process and I needed to buy some more for bottling day. This will take several hours on brew day and two weeks later several hours on bottling day so be prepared for that. I would guess around 4 as I really had all day just to play around with this. From start to finish you are looking at a month, brew day, let sit for 2 weeks, bottling day let sit for two weeks, getter cold and have a nice glass of cold delicious beer.

I bought the Hank's Hefeweizen starter kit. As a beginner brewer, I was a bit anxious during the entire process. But lo! Actual Carbonated Beer! The starter kit worked with fastidious instruction following. I'm a big fan of Hefeweizen and I'm very happy with the results. The beer is very malty. But with Homebrewing, one has an option to... deviate. I did deviate by putting the hop pellets into a cheese cloth satchel. So with MY deviation (NOT as instructed by the written word included), the hops didn't bloom much but honestly, whatever... hops are lame when there's too much. For me, an IBU of 0 is fine. The result of my batch is perfect and I wouldn't change a darn thing. Hank's Hefeweizen is a great kit that works. Do it if you like wheat malt flavors. If you like hops, you probably should not restrain the hop pellets like I did.

It's a shame the recipe kits aren't available from any retailers in Canada and NB doesn't (currently) ship here. I would brew the Block Party Amber again if I could get my hands on it (without travelling to the US or setting up with a forwarder). Cheers, NB!
