As my personal rule of thumb:
I award 5 stars to products that exceed my expectations and that I would repurchase again at full price.
I award 4 stars to products that can be improved but overall work well and are up to par. These I would still repurchase at full price.
I award 3 stars to products that are mediocre and I would NOT repurchase at full price.
I award 2 stars to products that are underwhelming and definitely would NOT repurchase at full price.
I award 1 star to products that do not work correctly and should not be on the market.
Pros:
- The ladder is awesome and makes getting to hard to reach places easy
- The overall structure of the fire truck is sturdy and strong
- The fire truck looks awesome with great coloring
- This is all but guaranteed to be a hit in your house
Cons:
- You have to be careful when rotating the ladder as it can come loose from its base
If you can find this set for under $20, then it’s definitely worth getting. It comes with two firefighter minifigs as well, so there’s lots of possibility for creativity and imagination.

My ONLY complaint -- it is virtually impossible to put the minifigures inside the fire truck without removing the ceiling. It is very annoying and inconvinient, but the minifugures are clearly intended to go inside (there is a seat and there is space for them to sit). Just too bad it cannot be done in a less frustrating ad adult-engaging way.
The blocks are divided into 2 bags to keep the construction less messy. It was a little long for a 5 year old so we constructed the first bag and took a break before finishing the second half, which is great.
Lots of fun playing, including coming to rescue the Friends city crowd (a fire in the oven of one of the Friends and a dog chased a cat that ended up climbing a tree). My kids learned to call 911 to call for the fire fighters to come, and practiced the address.
This fire truck is a great way to build up a fire department fleet.
The two minifigures are great, and the ladder portion of the truck is neat.
The little accessory on fire is cool too.It was a quick build for advanced builders.
I like the movements for the ladder. It was fun to build and easy to play with.
Kids have fun building it and tearing it apart and rebuilding it again.
1) Promotes motor skills
2) Improves creativity and engineering thinking
3) Develops persistence and planning skills
4) Encourages problem solving and mathematical thinking
I’ve witnessed kids play with it for hours, engaged and eager to accomplish!

Lego is one of those rare toys I don't mind buying - our kids always come back to their Lego sets, and will sit building new things for hours at a time from their imaginations. Much rather buy toys like this than the usual plastic tut that gets an hour of attention, and then just takes up space in the house for years without ever being played with again.
This set was easy enough to build, our eight year old did it all himself with no help needed from dad any more.
