    My expensive hearing aids lasted 11 years and started to fade. I thought I’d get by for a while with these cheap “amplifiers” but was very disappointed. 1. Control buttons are nothing like pictured.2. When it does work there’s an annoying, lengthy “beep” about every 60 seconds.3. Conversations are a blur.Thinking about returning it? The postage to China is more than the refund.I guess it’s like Aunt Bea’s pickles, gotta learn to love ’em.

    I have been using this type Britzgo hearing device for years. Considering the low prices of devices and batteries, I find them useful and convenient.

    1. The wearer doesn't need any help to fit or use them. They are simple to use and wear.
    2. They are bulky enough that I don't loose them, as opposed to using completely-in-ear equipment.
    3. I have reached an age & am of such a sex (male) at which I don't care if people can see I use them.
    4. I use regular, fungible LR44 batteries that last a week or more. They are easy, cheap to obtain on internet
    5. As war vet I qualify for expensive, in-ear, free- of- charge type. But those are easily misplaced or lost.
    6. When I lose or wear-out a Britzgo, I simply replace it for $50.00 out of my own pocket. No hassle.
    7. I get mine via Amazon within a day or two.
    8. Britzgo sells higher priced models. But the kind I wear work well enough for me.
    9. I use them all day every day. They'll last at least a year or two.
    10. I am so accustomed to this type that I never look for others.
    11. You might get better results from types costing $1000, $2000. But I am well satisfied by the Britzgos.
    12. I have worn them VERY BRIEFLY by mistake in the shower a few times. I dry them off and they still work.
    13. One will work in either ear. It is simple to adjust.
    14. Read the directions closely before use and you'll most likely have no trouble.
    15. Take enough time to become acclimated to them before returning them.
    16. I absolutely need these devices to hear. Am more than slightly deaf. Condition was progressive.
    17. I get no freebies from Britzgo. I have liked the service I get at low cost. So I offer the above.

    I've been wearing a professional (=$$$$) hearing aid in my left ear (Meniere's disease) for over 15 years. Got another professional one for my right ear about 5 years ago. Was pretty satisfied with the left one. Hated the right (newer) one because it had no on/off switch... had to rotate the battery out every time I wanted to turn it off (battery would then proceed to drop out also contact became erratic). When the newer unit eventually failed I was not too sorry to see it go. Some have commented on this unit as problematic in wind due to lack of noise cancelling capability. I had the same problem with my two professional units... hard to hear much of anything when outside on a windy day with the whistling in my ears.

    The unit under review here seems well made. I does have an on/off switch (Yay!). No indication that it has loop capabilities (e.g. for some phones and theaters) but I seldom used that on my professional units anyway. It's about twice as big as my professional units (but not obtrusive) and I would hardly call the case "Compact" but it does its job and doesn't appear to rely on tiny plastic pins as hinges that break easily (and render the case useless).

    My one complaint is due to the fact that my ear openings are small and even the smallest of the 3 different-sized ear domes is too large. I've had to create my own by adapting plugs from my now-defunct unit for this. A couple of minor annoyances: 1) The on/off switch goes in the opposite direction of my first unit (seems like they could get a standard for that) and 2) This takes a larger battery than the one size I had used for my 2 professional units (now I have to stock 2 different size batteries).

    Compared to the professional units this is a real bargain at a fraction of the price (e.g. ~ 2%) and I hear fine with it.

    I highly recommend this. It has been over a month since I ordered this device and I am still very pleased with how it is working. I am 62 years young and my hearing is not all that bad except in certain auditory ranges. Still, I was getting tired of the constant: "What?" "Excuse me?" "Pardon me?" and "Huh?" - especially around home and at my office. I was looking at getting a hearing test with the intent of buying aids for thousands of dollars. You can get a lot of these things for the price of one hearing aid. My mother and numerous others I have spoken with were not all that happy with their hearing aid experience. So I took a chance, followed the suggestion of a friend, and got this instead. It is truly wonderful. As some reviewers have said, the draw back is that it amplifies EVERY thing, so I do not use it constantly. Around my home I was disappointed that it amplified the fan overhead and the air vent noise really well -- but when you are trying to hear someone talking that really gets in the way. Likewise, I cannot use it in my car while driving - my hearing is fine for that. You can't believe how noisy a car is! And the kitchen is definitely off limits - every clank and clack of pots and pans or silverware becomes 'gun shot' loud. It drives me nuts. But being able to watch a DVD or listen to music on the stereo without entertaining the neighbors down the street is terrific. And taking this thing hiking is absolutely wonderful - to hear the birds, the wind in the trees, your foot fall in grass or gravel - is truly a joy. Of course, using it in my office to hear my soft-spoken clients has been both a blessing and essential. For the money this is a genuine value. It appears well made, has a good guarantee (though there are conflicts in the literature between one and two years) and seems well worth the investment. I do not understand why everyone seems fixated on the packaging? I guess the nice box shows something of the care of the manufacturer -- it is just marketing to me. This device really delivers good results and is ideal for folks whose hearing is not all that bad.
