This would be our second Samsung tablet, as our son has had an older Galaxy Tab 3 for years. Still works, albeit quite slow, but acceptable and actually pretty dependable after we changed the battery.
This "Lite" version is a good, no frills basic tablet. Performance is acceptable for casual use (mostly Netflix and some Web browsing). It might be a deal breaker to some but it's worth noting that 1) there's no front camera 2) the OS appears to be Kit Kat with no ability to update it.
Still, it's good tablet with acceptable performance and screen resolution. I've been reasonably happy with our other Samsung products and this is no different. My wife is definitely happy with this one.
It's not an ultra high end tablet by any means but it does what it needs to.

UPDATE 4/27/2018:
Tablets are still going strong. We only use these for children apps, games and videos. Every so often an app will freeze, but I really wouldn't place that on the quality of the tablet.
Usually when it does it, there's so many apps open that it's as simple as "close all" and reopen, then it's back to business. These tablets are pretty well protected with the bumber cases and screen protectors, but still have been thrown around quite a bit and they still work as great as they did Christmas morning. Samsung has yet to disappoint me.

To get to the meat of what my review is on about, I field-tested this tablet as a tether-dependent device for Pokémon GO, in the context of passively gaining items/dust/EXP for my alternate account whilst I actively catch on my main phone. My provider at the time of these tests was T-Mobile, and my Phone was the first Google Pixel.
I will also note that, if you do get this device, you will not be able to download Pokémon GO from the Google Play store, but instead from a APK mirror site. The reason why is that the Tab E Lite only has 1 GB of RAM vs. the minimum requirement to download being 2 GB. What comes below is not the fault of Niantic or Samsung, but rather a summary of what to expect if you are using this device as a cheaper option to other, beefier tablets.
For my urban field test, I used Philadelphia- specifically, Center City and around Spruce Street Harbor Park. Immediately after hopping off the Regional Rail @ Jefferson Station, it was having issues loading up the game. Granted, the station was underground, where you are bound to have poor reception. However, my phone loaded up just fine then. I take my devices above ground and find that the device can now load the game, but my movement is not registering on the tablet. Again, the phone is fine. The tablet begins to finally register movement once I leave the general area of City Hall. I presume the tall skyscrapers in the city severely impacted the GPS locator on the Tablet, as they had also done the same to my Pixel on previous visits. Operation is generally very choppy, once more a testament to how I am running a game that takes 2 GB RAM on a device with just 1 GB RAM. Catching Raid Pokémon is very difficult, with a half second delay on the screen to your own interactions. Battery Life was roughly 4 hours of usage under those conditions (weather was dry and cool, about ~45 degrees Fahrenheit)
For my suburban field test, I used the campus of Arcadia University, where the reception is generally excellent. Both the tablet and the phone function properly and with relatively smooth operation. The tablet grows slightly choppy after the 3rd hour, but nothing like the test in Philly. Raiding is passable. Choppiness can be remedied with a quick reboot/cooldown period of 15 minutes. Weather conditions applied to this test was about the same as the Philadelphia one, but I did have a light drizzle. Battery lasted 5 and a half hours. Rain is not kind to touchscreen accuracy.
All said and done, this device is so-so for Pokémon GO, but only if you're willing to deal with sub-par operation, and if you play in suburban and rural areas (assuming the rural areas have decent coverage from your provider).
