Pros:
Clean look.
Carrying handle - use it to hand on the knob of the closet to help keep it out of the way, but off the floor so the cats don't get it messy...or sleep on it.
Lightweight - I needed something that could hold up to a lot of use but not weigh a lot.
Large surface - laptop fits, even-though it is slightly larger than 17in it still fits (sits right at the edge on the left and right up to the mouse pad). Doesn't hang over the back or front and fits securely against the front lip/bump.
Surface material - the fine texture ensures the rubber feet on the laptop keep a good grip and there has not been any time where it feels like the laptop will slip off, even when going from a sitting to standing position or back sitting.
Mouse pad - my digital mouse works just fine, fits. At first I thought it might be a bit too small (side to side) for good functional use, but have yet to have any issues resulting in the mouse going off the side. I've read a few reviews where people complain that the mouse falls off because there is no lip around the pad, but I have yet to have this issue, even when moving the LapDesk around, the mouse stays on it. I'd almost have to say if they did have a lip, there would be a good chance it would be uncomfortable to use as your hand/wrist would have to rest on the lip while in use.
Heat - keeps the laptop off the legs and keeps the legs from getting super hot from it.
Padding: Now, for this one, I'm neither Pro nor Con in opinion. The padding "pillows" are, for me, in the perfect position front and back for my legs, so it sits perfectly on my legs - but it may not be the case for everyone. The material inside (assume it is the styro pellets) is adequate to be somewhat form fitting to help keep the LapDesk in place, pliable enough to be slightly adjustable when needed - but not pliable enough to be totally form fitting or comfortable for long use in one position. So, it could be better but isn't bad enough to make it con, nor good enough to make it a pro.
Cons (or should I say Con)
The ONLY thing I dislike is the phone holder portion. When the LapDesk was designed it must have been prior to the iPhone 6 / 6s Plus, larger phone era (aka prior to 2016)... Because it is much too shallow to securely hold the phone. I mean it sits in there, so it kinda works, but at the slightest jolt / movement if falls out. Or if the LapDesk is tilted too far forward or back, it falls out, even if it is only tilted due to adjusting one's legs for comfort. The phone is too long / top heavy to be able to sit in the slot without risk of falling out. So it would be nice of the slot was either deeper, or even be a bit wider so the phone could be put in sideways.
(Plus, nit-pic for my phone, I've got to take the back part of the phone case off so it can even sit in the slot as is, but I have a large clip on case so it is thicker than normal with the back on.)
Fortunately, I'm not the kind of person who lives on my phone, so I don't "need" it to be at the ready, inches from my hand when I'm on the computer.
*Edit: Ok, so Pro points for the "phone" holder... It is the PERFECT size for my external hard drive and it fits securely.
I'm also an artist, so this LapDesk will come in handy when I want to sit in random places and sketch too. Win Win.
I disagree with those in these review pages who state that the bottom cushions should be the same size - a slight forward tilt makes sense for this product and the position/elevation of one's legs makes a much larger difference in the overall tilt of the desk anyway. I haven't had any problems sitting comfortably and in a position that allows for effective typing and screen viewing.
However, the one related complaint regarding the mouse falling off the mouse pad is significant and needs to be addressed. I was able to solve the mouse issue by building a comfortable retaining pad out of this product: 4in4in1/4in 6Pcs Foam Rubber Sheets, Self Stick Adhesive Weather Stripping Foam Non-Slip Furniture Pads Black 4 inch Long X 4 inch Wide X 1/4 Thickness . These foam rubber sheets are easy to cut and were easy to form into a retaining pad (see photo). The adhesive has held up perfectly and, in fact, in addition to preventing the mouse from falling off the pad, the foam also makes for a nice wrist rest. It would be better if the manufacturer addressed the mouse-slide issue, but I'm not deducting any stars because my fix is adequate and easy to do and the product delivers in every other way.
Another complaint I've read is regarding the phone slot. The photos show my Samsung Galaxy S7, but my Galaxy S8+ fits too (a very tall phone), as did my old Galaxy Note 4 (a much thicker phone with case). It's true that the slot won't accommodate laying a phone on its side, but that would make for a very wide desk! I have yet to have one of my phones fall out of the slot, including when I shift around in my seat and when I walk around with the desk from one location to another. It takes an extreme angle for the phone to fall forward out of the slot (just trying it for my S8+ I'd estimate a 25 - 30° angle).
I recommend this product - give it a try. You will know immediately if this product is for you (or if it should be returned).

When trying to use it laying in bed it really is much more difficult to use, again I blame the surface more than the lap desk. If you need something for a Surface for laying down, look for something that is a little deeper.
The product is very lightweight and easy to carry. I haven't traveled with it yet, but it seems like it will pack well without taking up too much space or weight. The carbon fiber feels nice and is easy to clean if you happen to get anything on it. The bottom seems to filled with the same thing that a bean bag chair is filled with and doesn't seem to get warm or anything over time so it's very comfortable.
Even given the weirdness with the Surface, I'd still buy it again and I use it all of the time. I'm using it right now to type this review, even.
