I have relatively long legs (about a 34 inch inseam/5'9") and tried a few other options that I think were intended for shorter people, but this is the right size for me. I can sit upright, my legs are comfortably extended without my lap being too high to use my laptop comfortably, and my neck, knees, and back are feeling so much better. The problem I have with regular recliner chairs is that they elevate my legs, but then the rest of my body is either unsupported or if I want support I have to lean back and look at the ceiling- not great if I want to get stuff done. I have what we suspect is mild neuropathy in my feet and the rocking motion and texture is really nice, with the whole thing sitting at a height where I can use it with socks or with shoes.
Cons: It's much heavier than it looks in the picture, which makes it not very portable for travel or moving out of the way for social things. I nearly tripped on it a few times and suspect it would work better under a desk instead of in front of a couch. The rocking motion isn't silent but I am sound sensitive and don't find it obnoxious. I wouldn't recommend it for shorter people. It won't fix all your ergonomic problems if you don't have an adjustable chair that fits you well.
Pros: The sturdiness and nonslip feet on it means that it is working well on our tile floors. It has been fairly easy to clean so far to remove dog hair. You can rock your feet if you want but if you find a good angle it will stay in place OK. I am able to leave it in place and still use the recliner on my couch if I want to relax and watch a movie or nap. I think this is a great solution for longer-legged people who need a better position for their knees or feet while working.
There was a refrigerator to take outside, so of course I, being the kid, got to be the one walking backwards carrying the thing through the house. I tripped over a shovel lying in the floor, fell backwards with the fridge on top of me onto the sharp-angled edge of a new baseboard, and cracked my tailbone.
I can see where that would be funny on TV, but it was agony in real life. For two weeks my mom hauled me back and forth to the chiropractor, and I couldn't even sit in the car. I had to ride holding myself up off the seat the whole way. My coccyx finally healed, and for several years I was good.
About the time I turned 40 I filled out that card that allows life and fate to make "everything fall apart" because that's what you DO when you turn 40. I started having problems sitting for long periods of time. A dull ache in my tailbone would finally get almost paralyzing. Standing up after sitting a while was agony as I had to S L O W L Y rise from a chair, allowing my muscles (and it felt like) bones shift back into place.
I came to Amazon for a Chesna Coccyx Seat Cushion similar to this --> https://www.amazon.com/Chesna-Cushion-Premium-Tailbone-Sciatica/dp/B071NNY7JK
In fact, that could be the same one. It looks identical to mine. I was good again. That is, IF I sat properly on the cushion. After a few years I got lazy and found myself not sitting on the cushion properly.
"Properly" is the classic good posture position, back straight, shoulders back, butt all the way back in the seat. Slouching makes the pillow useless. And that brings me to this foot rest. I had the bright idea that if my feet were raised it would help me to maintain posture because every time I thought about my feet being on the rest it would remind me to sit correctly. And so far it's working!
I'm not having any pain now at all, thank goodness, and I'm getting in a good habit of sitting right so it's not even an effort now. In addition to those good things, this foot rest is built really well.
I couldn't tell from the picture, but this thing is a plastic top with mostly all metal framework, which makes me believe it's going to last forever. It has a square tube steel base with another steel frame supporting the top. The two frames are hinged together with a sort of friction joint so that the top will stay angled the way you leave it and not flop around, yet it's still extremely easy to tilt back and forth with your feet.
The knobby texture feels great on bare feet, especially after I walk ten hours all day on my job. Pivoting the top back and forth too is gratifying...it feels good on the ankles and calf muscles to "knead" them that way.
Do your tired, overworked, and abused lower body a favor and buy this thing. It's a great purchase, especially for the price.

Overall incredibly happy with this. Super cheap and very well built. Lock those philips screws into place and you have yoruself a perfect little foot rest!
I *really* like that it tilts. I was a bit hesitant about choosing it because of this, but I am really glad I did. Once you have your chair height right, then the footrest kind of angles itself to the most comfortable position once you put your feet on it. Not only that, if you want to change your foot position (for example, right now my right foot is flat on the footrest and my left one's outer sole is resting on it, kind of in a half-yogi style) the footrest just tilts automatically to the correct and most comfortable position. If I want a bit of movement, I just use my feet to rock it back and forth to get a bit of circulation going (in brain and feet).
This is *way* better than a standard footrest with rigid preset angles, and it's a bargain to boot.
