BLUF: it works great. Very easy to setup. It runs smoothly and quietly. And it cuts very well.
I had the tree completely cut up in 2hrs and spent 2hrs more hauling it off. Goes like a hot knife through butter on limbs 2-3" in diameter. I even made several cuts of about 14" which is likely more than a 16" bar should do, but it got through quickly and did not overheat. A buddy with a 16" gas chainsaw was doing no better than me on those cuts.
Pros: Cuts cleanly and quickly. Quiet (for a chainsaw). Light and maneuverable. No starting hassles.
Cons: using an electrical cord is a bit of a hassle, as it gets tangled up in dropped branches as you drag it around, and you want to keep it clear of your cuts for sure. Also the chain does not have a brake, so it spins for 10-20seconds after you complete the cut. Don't be impatient with a chainsaw is generally a pretty good rule to follow though.
It could die tomorrow and would still be worth every penny for getting me through this project with no hassles. I'm now eyeing several other "trash trees" in my yard...
Regarding the oil leaking out of the reservoir: folks, it's a gravity feed that is supposed to oil the chain continuously. What else would you expect? The oil reservoir and feed line approaches the guide bar / chain from the motor side. I find that if I stow the chainsaw on its side, motor side down, then the oil leaking is minimized. I have not used the chainsaw enough to comment on how long the oiler will continue to work.
The saw seems quite powerful and is making short work of a 60' tall tree that fell down in our back yard. Note there is no chain brake so the chain continues to spin down for a second or two after you release the power button/trigger. Many parts of the saw appear to be made of plastic, where I expect steel would be the better choice. Whether or not this saw would withstand the rigors of daily use is not my concern - I might use it two or three times per year.
Interesting: I'm supposed to tension the chain every couple of cuts. I'm happy to do that. What happens is that the chain gets a little loose after a couple of cuts. As soon as I loosen the Bar Adjustment Locking Knob, the chain seems to automatically tension itself. So then I just retighten the knob. It takes me about ten seconds every couple of cuts. I hardly ever have to fiddle with the actual adjustment (with the Chain Tension Wheel).
Read the instructions: they are well written, apparently by a native English speaker, and very nicely and accurately illustrated. The instructions are surprisingly well done, useful.
A caution - with your first use, check the chain tension before cutting anything. Run it with no load at all (that is, while not cutting anything), then check again. Mine required immediate retightening.
Also, put a bit of silicon spray onto the chain tensioner wheel and shaft. If yours is like mine, it might jam and stick. I had to take the cover off when this happened. Those parts are plastic (never a plus in my mind, but for the price, you have to expect it). I suggest NOT using standard WD-40 for that reason. WD-40 will attack some plastics. Silicon will not.
Finally, the instructions for removing the cover are not real clear. Look for the little unlock symbol on the unlocking wheel, and keep turning the wheel until the cover comes off easily. It can be frustrating until you figure this out.
Those were minor annoyances but I would have been happy to have that advice before I assembled mine. And once I did those things, I was very happy with it - great value for the price.
