I have a variety of coffee making devices. Each serves a specific purpose. A Black and Decker 12 cup drip coffee maker for a typical morning or for when friends stop by. A Bella single serve pod coffee maker. An Aeropress with which I like to experiment or make a latte. A Melitta pour over when the mood moves me to perform the whole pour over ritual. Then I got the Oxo Brew single serve pour over coffee maker, combining the great taste of pour over with the ease of put the heated water in and walk away. IMHO the taste is very good and it's a great, easy way to to make and enjoy a great cup of coffee. I highly recommend this for anyone that wants to try pour over coffee making or is tired of the pour over routine.

Superior in every way compared to a K-Cup based machine

This OXO single cup dripper creates a far superior cup of coffee compared to various k-cup like machines based on my experience.

It is incredibly inexpensive, fast, no mess, highly portable when traveling etc and is much less expensive per cup of coffee than k-cup equivalents.

Even the new NInja K-cup machine (a very nice machine) pales in comparison. I have owned several Keurig, Cusinart and the brand new Ninja K-cup machine.

However, for an even more amazing cup of coffee with this OXO pour-over - consider the following:

Brewing your coffee similar to an expresso lungo (long-pour) - kinda.

In brief:

1) Consider using quality filtered water NOT not tap water

1) Use a finer grind of coffee (15ml, 15 grams or 2 tablespoons or repurpose a k-cup by removing the foil top) versus conventional ground drip coffee. The grind should be nearer to an espresso grind but not quite that fine.

A finer grind of coffee is generally needed to extract a better concentrate of coffee's flavors when using less water (see step 3) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C7G5Z57F?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

2) Fully boil 8 oz. of water in a small or large kettle pot.

3) Add 3 or 3.5 oz of the boiling water into the OXO pour-over and let pour-over dripping complete

4) After brewing you should have a little bit less than 1/2 cup of brewed coffee in your 8 oz cup ( I prefer 3 or 3.5 oz) This may appear counter intuitive, but consider trying it before disbelieving :-)

5) Add the remaining boiling water into your coffee cup and stir briefly

6) Enjoy it hot or poured over ice.

I just received my eagerly awaited single cup coffee dripper & although it’s very good, i needed to fix it. Not all the water tank drip holes were properly drilled/open & on my first try, water would not drain/drip properly. Upon inspecting the holes with a magnifying lens i saw only 3 were properly open, the rest were not. I had to use a thick sewing needle to insert into the not fully open holes & finish opening them. Then they worked & i was able to make coffee, which turned out great & delicious. So beware that even though it is a good product, u may have to work on the water tank holes defect.

I have tried so many different devices to make coffee. I only drink one cup a day so it is a challenge. I do not like the pod system (difficult to keep clean and too many reports of mold growth for my liking) This little gadget makes my one cup quickly and is very easy to clean. The coffee is hot and flavorful. The only down side is when you are pouring the hot water into the vessel, it begins to drain into the coffee grounds making it difficult to measure the exact amount of water needed. I have adapted to that so it's really not that big of an issue. BTW, I have NEVER written a review for anything before so for me to do so tells you I really like this! I hope you enjoy!!

I cannot say enough good things about this coffee brewer. First of all (and most importantly) it makes an excellent cup of coffee! No electricity. No timing issues normally associated with pour over coffee makers. Don't get me wrong. I still love my pour over brew, but let's be honest, sometimes, you just don't feel up to the whole "ritual" of pour over. In the morning, I just need some good tasting 'Joe" that is easy and quick.

Put in a filter. Add your grounds. Place the top water bin portion over the top. Place the whole thing on top of your mug. Remove the top lid and add the correct amount of water for your cup (8oz, 10oz, or 12oz) and then sit back and relax while this does the rest.

My helpful hint if you want to make the coffee to taste even better...
1. About a minute after you pour in the hot water, pick up your mug and the whole contraption together and move it in a small "swirling" motion for 3 or 4 swirls. Then, put it back down and let it finish brewing.

If you do this, it will distribute the coffee more evenly in the filter and make for a better tasting final cup. Try it and see if you don't agree.

This is my go to brewer for my morning coffee now. I just love it's ease of use and the results are undeniable.

I would recommend this product for anyone who only wants to make an easy single cup of coffee. It is such an easy process, as well as an easy clean up with the coffee beans. The plastic is sturdy and BPA free.
The only complaint i have is the price, it's a good purchase and investment but it is defiantly not worth $50, at most it's $30.
Overall, great purchase!

I love this coffee maker. I am the only coffee drinker in the house & love my real coffee in the morning. I did have a small cafetière, but it was messy & difficult to clean. I have also tried with just a filter cone over a mug - but judging how much water to pour in could be tricky...
This has made life so much easier and means that I get a consistent mug of coffee every morning. I also find that I need less coffee than I did in my Bodum single cup/filter setup. Having the water tank to measure the water is excellent - and the way the water slowly drips through it ensures a good brew. I usually pre-warm my mug to ensure my coffee keeps hot for longer.
It is very easy to clean - dispose of the filter and grounds in the composting bin then wash everything up.
