Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Features

Five unique modes offer a custom cleaning experience

Philips Sonicare DiamondClean offers five unique cleaning modes. An illuminated display indicates the selected mode and becomes invisible when power is off.

-Clean: Two-minute standard Clean mode for an exceptional everyday clean.

-White: 2 minutes of whitening mode to remove surface stains plus 30 seconds to brighten and polish front teeth.

-Sensitive: Gentle teeth and gum cleaning.

-Gum Care: Clean mode with an additional minute to gently stimulate and massage gums.

-Deep clean: 3-minute mode to tackle trouble spots and hard-to-reach areas.

Smartimer and Quadpacer simplify brushing

DiamondClean makes it easy to care for your teeth by using two timers to keep you on track. The Smartimer encourages you to brush for a full two minutes, the time recommended by dental professionals, while the Quadpacer beeps in 30-second intervals to make sure you thoroughly brush all four quadrants of your mouth.

Charging glass and USB charging travel case

DiamondClean’s unique charging glass features conduction technology as it charges the toothbrush while resting in the glass, which can also be used for mouth rinsing after removing it from the base. The DiamondClean’s rechargeable battery lasts up to 3 weeks (or 42 uses) on a single charge. A battery indicator light on the toothbrush illuminates when power is running low. To recharge place the toothbrush in the charging glass or charge directly in the USB charging travel case using your laptop via USB or plug it into a wall outlet for convenient charging on-the-go!

Very disappointed- stopped working in less than a year

Very disappointed- stopped working in less than a year
This is an excellent toothbrush. We loved it. I purchased it a couple weeks before Christmas 2017. However, it suddenly began making noises and stopped working a few weeks before it's 1st anniversary. It didn't even last a year. My previous, less fancy sonicare model has lasted 12 years and still works. We rely on this toothbrush technology, so we purchased the sonicare 7000, with two handles from Costco to replace it last week. For more than $200, one would assume the Diamond Clean rechargeable would be a work horse that would last years. Sadly, it didn't.

I'll be honest. This is a ridiculously priced toothbrush. Seriously, no way to get around it. It is absurdly priced and I'm almost embarrassed to be admitting that I bought it. With that said... Wow, this thing is amazing. I've owned two Sonicare toothbrushes previously. One was the base model, then I decided to upgrade to one of the mid-tier models a few years ago. Both toothbrushes still work to this day, but I decided to splurge and buy a new one. I was curious to see if it was actually worth the price, and if it was better than the cheaper models. First let me say, if you're shopping for a Sonicare toothbrush because you want to experience that awesome, clean feeling.... BUY THE BASE MODEL. The one that doesn't look like anything fancy, and it doesn't come with any cool features. If that's all you want, that's all you need. It gets the job done and it is what turned me on to Sonicare toothbrushes. I'll never go back to solely using a manual toothbrush because those never get my teeth as clean as a Sonicare. However.... I like nice things, and the build quality of this Diamond Clean one is absolutely incredible. Nothing on it feels cheap, it is very sturdy and it is exactly what you would expect from a toothbrush this expensive. You're definitely paying for the gimmicky stuff of this toothbrush though. I don't use any of the features this toothbrush comes with. I don't use the separate heads. I don't even use the travel case. You're paying for all that. But I will say, the Diamond Clean heads seem to work slightly better than the other Sonicare models I've tried. They seem larger, more substantial, and it feels like it cleans more thoroughly. The other Sonicares definitely do a great job, but this one actually does do a seemingly better job.

The million dollar question. Is that arguably better cleaning, worth the substantial price tag? For me, no. I don't regret my purchase at all and I enjoy spending money on nice things. But you do not need to spend this kind of money on a toothbrush. You are not going to get magically cleaner teeth with this over the other models. All the features on this thing are rather gimmicky. Just turn the toothbrush on and brush your teeth.

This Sonicare is great. My teeth feel cleaner than when I visit the dentist and the adaptive brush head cuts the grime and tartar buildup instantly.

I decided to buy this model because I previously had one of the original Sonicare Essence brushes-purchased in 2000 as a Christmas present when I was 7 years old. I used it until the battery no longer would hold a charge, which was in September of 2016. I'd say it had a good run!

Back to the DiamondCare brush itself...compared to my old unit (when it was functional), the DiamondCare vibrates so much more quietly and aggressively. The first time I used the brush out of the box, I set the unit to "Deep Clean" mode, which is a 3 minute cleaning cycle, and the blue Colgate Enamel toothpaste that came out was a murky yellow! It was nasty-especially since I was using a Sonicare twice per day!

Not surprisingly, my teeth are much whiter, my taste is much clearer, and my sense of smell is crisp-after every cleaning cycle.

Regarding the complete assembly, excluding the brush, I am a little disappointed. The carry case duals as a charger and holds two brush heads, but you have to take the heads off of the handle and the brush heads cannot be inside of their plastic protective caps while inside the case. I don't know...it seems like they could have done better with the case.

Honestly, the whole cup thing is stupid. No one with an actual sense of hygiene puts a $190 toothbrush in a glass cup to CHARGE IT, especially when the cups's intended purpose is to rinse out nasty mouthwater.

If the DiamondClean is too expensive for your taste, go with the FlexCare, but the weight and feel of this unit is so much more elegant and simple. It's worth it.

I love Sonicare brushes, so much so that I've bought a new one every 2-3 years for the past two decades. They've always been progressive improvements on the same high quality tool, and while this model continues that trend, it also throws in a handful of sorely needed luxury.

If I've had one complaint about these brushes, it's that they were always the cheapest, ugliest looking thing in my bathroom, possibly my entire house...

Big, clunky charging stations. Hard, white, easily discolored plastics and goofy rubber buttons everywhere. I mean, I get that they were trying to make it look like a professional dental tool, but is that really the look you're going for in your home?

Enter the new model: Soft-touch, matte black body with hidden buttons and indicators, chrome accents, piano black brush heads, and the new charging solution is a classy chrome and glass number. My first thought after assembly was that this would not be out of place in a new Benz!

Function wise it's the same great sonicare clean, plus a new "heavy duty" mode called deep clean, which feels great. It's also quieter than previous versions.

The travel case deserves it's own mention as well: Nylon mesh exterior, soft-touch interior, magnetic close, and the built in usb charging functionality is a killer app for road warriors like me. It's an altogether different animal from the cheap plastic tube that came with earlier models.

So what I'm saying here is: just buy it. Seriously, even if yours is only a year old, there's enough new hotness here to justify the upgrade. And if you still don't have a sonicare, this is the one you've been waiting for...
