It's exactly as advertised. It's double wall stainless steel. This makes it light. If this bowl was solid steel it'd be a bit clunky - it'd definitely be a toe smasher in the shower if it was solid steel! So the double wall construction is a good thing. Also steel is strong, so you don't need it to be a heavy clunky piece to get the job done. The inside is polished smooth which is excellent for lathering. The middle part of the exterior is brushed giving it some texture so it's less slippy than if it was polished. And as advertised, it's bigger than most shaving bowls allowing folks like myself more room to work the lather.

This is a decent beginner bowl. It's not a great bowl. You probably aren't going to fall in love with creating a lather in this bowl, but it's good for what it is. I tend to keep my razor and brush on the ledge of the tub in this bowl. I also tend to start building my lather in this bowl, but then move to my hand to get the really good, thick lather I want to put on my legs. It's difficult to tell though. New razor, new soaps, new bowl, new blades, new technique. It's nice in those situations. I doubt it's anything that anyone who is really into wet shaving is going to keep around though.

Oh, I agree with other reviewers. It is light weight. Deceivingly light. I don't feel like I wasted my money. It was a nice stepping stool. I'll probably get something better in the future, but for now, it's good enough. And it will be very pretty when I re purpose it for wine corks or pot pourri.

Big, unbreakable and light weight. Bigger is better as long as your brush doesn't fall in. I found a way to have warm shaving cream in a 60 degree bathroom. I preheat the bowl with my wife's hair dryer then put a dab of shaving cream in the bowl and run some hot water on my brush. The shaving cream stays warm for a second application. I may not do this for summer but nice in a 60 degree bathroom.

The shaving bowl arrived damaged.
The item itself had an obvious dent in the bottom. This causes the bowl to not sit correctly during use. (it tilts to one side if you aren't careful with it.
The packaging could have been far better, though there were no obvious signs of damage on the outer or internal box. (This was checked due to the item arriving in the damage state described above.

The bowl did not retain water in the vacuum area, which verified that the vacuum seal was not broken.
I decided to still attempt to use the bowl in its dented state, because the goal was to use this in lieu of packing my ceramic shaving bowl for trips.
The bowl does not retain heat any better than a standard metal (not double-walled) shaving bowl.
The bowl has no handle or good place to grip when attempting to mix lather.
The bowl has a nice wide opening and appropriate depth, but it is not heavy enough to sit still on the counter by itself, nor does it come with any form of non-slip bottom to keep it from moving. Because of this, you have to hold onto the bowl to mix your lather. Since there is no handle, the bowl is more easily dropped (you tend to have wet hands when preparing for a shave).
I could not recommend this bowl to anyone
