See the cheap broken plastic safety interrupt?....just junk.
UPDATE - I changed from 4 stars to 1 star.I am once again the proud owner of a kitchen appliance that I have to replace AGAIN. At least my Black and Decker lasted about 15 or more years. So, the motor interlock safety interrupt is made of cheap, thin breakable plastic. I don't think I'll bother replacing it as it's such a money making design that I'll just have to replace it again in a few years. HOWEVER, when a company makes something as junky and sleezy as this, I give them a chance to make it right and if not; I put them on the never purchase list forever. We'll see. As you can see below, my wife won't miss it anyway. Can't buy expensive appliances any more despite the wanted features. Just can't afford to replace the junk every few years.------------------I give it 4 stars. My wife however does not like it. She says it's just too large, bulky and hard to use.I suspect she'll get to like it better over time. But one of the main reasons I bought this unit is one of thereasons she doesn't like it. That is; the sealed top. That green thing is a rubber seal so that liquid willnot spill out. In conjunction with that feature, there is no typical hole in the center of the bowl that would allowliquid to leak out that way. It's just a sealed spindle in the middle that the blade slides on to. I love this full-bowl,no spill feature and I made use of it making a huge batch of gazpacho the other day. We don't really need ablender for most uses any more. While the unit has suction cups that hold the unit quite steady during use, those suction cups also make it hard toslide the unit under the upper cabinets when not in use. I'd prefer a push and release suction lever so that you canslide it around when needed. It's difficult for me to slide and it also comes close to hitting the fluorescent lightsbeneath those same cabinets. So imagine trying to gently lift up the unit to disconnect the suction so that you canmove it, but with it popping up and coming close to smashing those light bulbs. That task is nearly out of the question for my wife,so I ended up moving the unit to an area on the counter that has no cabinets above. But that area is more prominentthan I would like to store a giant food processor. It's just the only thing that makes sense for us. I also put the uniton top of a smooth-surfaced, padded sliding placemat. So when I want to move the unit forward for use, I just pull on the matt, then wejust push the matt toward the rear of the counter when we're done to get it out of the way. The suction cups do stick to the matt whichseems to be all that's necessary. When running, the suction cups on the matt work fine. It's not like we have to hold onto the matt or itwould start to walk. So, that method worked out best for us.Advice - just keep the metal blade in the bowl. Don't try to put it in the blade storage container as it is very convoluted to get it in and outof there. An engineer obviously had a ball creating that blade storage container, but bottom line is that the blade that will beused probably at least 90% of the time is most difficult to get in and out of that container. So might as well just put it in the bowl.Lastly, I like that this thing is a bruiser. I used the slicing blade and cut yams in half lengthwise and ran them through to sliceup to make baked yam/sweet potato chips. Yams are pretty darned hard and it just plowed through them.Lastly, neither of us care for that big locking handle. You have to pull it up over the top of the bowl so that it clicks into place. It bothers me less than my wife and I understand its necessary function; to keep that rubber seal tight so that liquid doesn't come out. But, I think there has to be a better way to go about it. I would have tried to engineer a pull lock mechanism such that when you put the lid on, you just pull a lever that locked both sides tightly. Then that gigantic handle wouldn't be necessary.Summary: for me the power of the unit, the slicing functionality, large bowl, and the no-leak, full liquid bowl do it for me. I personally can work around the other inconveniences mentioned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Look no further, this is a truly great food processor
Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2017
Very impressed with this unit so far. It replaced a fancy Kitchen Aid Pro-Line food processor whose carafe was falling apart and could not be replaced for a reasonable price. Based on our first uses, this one is far better! The carafe has a gasket and an unusual basket-handle locking mechanism, so it won't piddle all over if you're processing something soupy.

The slicing blade is adjustable! So clever. Who needs multiple blades if the blade assembly has a gazillion thickness settings? My hummus turned out super-silky and didn't creep up the sides of the carafe.

And a dicing attachment? That's entirely new to me. I've had food processors that shred, but dicing is pretty novel. Gazpacho coming up!

I'm looking forward to exploring this machine further and getting many years of use out of it. Frankly, I never really had Hamilton Beach on my radar, but between our Toastation toaster oven (simply the cleverest and useful toaster oven ever) and this unusual food processor, I'm sold.

DELIGHTED UPDATE: Check out the photo of the magnificent gazpacho I made in about ten minutes. I scored some super-ripe organic heirloom tomatoes and figured they'd make a great test of the dicing gizmo. Expecting little but mush, I proceeded according to the recipe that came with the machine... and it was absolutely terrific, just the right consistency. One great feature of this processor versus the costly Kitchen Aid Pro Line it replaced is that you can remove the chopping blade from the bowl without everything leaking through the spindle-hole. The Kitchen Aid made many frustrating messes that way, not to mention how it would leak from under the bowl lid... no more!

SIX MONTH UPDATE: Still loving it. The green gasket at the top keeps it from piddling all over the place, which is appreciated since I like to make soups. It is much tidier to use than our old Kitchen Aid, which we don't miss in the least. This one is much better designed and built, and the Kitchen Aid had nothing like the chopping/dicing gizmo.

¡Gracias Amazon y Hamilton Beach!

This food processor does its features perfectly as described but I could not find for it a french fries disc even at the manufacturer which doesn't affect my rating. Its dicing disc is 2 parts, the green contour which hold the square blades is detachable, easier to clean or dishwashed. Its accessories are dishwasher safe, what worries is the 1/4" wide thin green sealing ring on the lid, I couldn't take it off, and how much time will it last in the dishwasher? One last thing, beware, there is on the market and online exactly the same box and listing but with a different inscriptions on the operating buttons, a picture is uploaded. You ask the seller before buying.
