9 Accessories Included + Carry Bag
Comes with: Standard wood cutting blade, fast wood cutting end cut blade, scraper, semicircle HSS blade, bimetal blade, 3 sanding triangles, and a sanding pad.
Dual Oscillation Technology
When you’re working with wood, or need to get the job done fast, set the Sonicrafter for 5.0 degrees. But when precision and control are important, set it for metal at 3.4 degrees. You get the fastest cutting and the most control in the same tool.
The Right Speed is Essential
Whether you’re successful with each job often requires having a wide variety of speeds to choose from. Fastest isn’t always best (you can ruin a surface with too much speed). The Sonicrafter lets you pick the best speed for each project.

Product Description
The Rockwell AW400 F80 Sonicrafter Oscillating Multi-Tool provides a choice of two oscillating angles: 5. 0 degrees (wood setting) and 3.4 degrees (metal setting). Choose the 5.0 degree oscillating angle when projects require fast, aggressive cuts and quick results, or the 3.4 degree angle for precision and continuous control. It works harder and faster than any other multi-tool, while enabling the user to choose the oscillating angle that best suits the job at hand. Easily accomplish cross-cutting, ripping or plunge-cuts in wood. Trim doorjambs or cut PVC, then clip nail heads or cut metal pipe. Using a rigid scraper blade, remove blistered paint, take rust from bare metal for priming or scrape and remove hardened caulk or adhesives. Clamp on a carbide grit semicircular blade to grind old grout from between floor or wall tiles. With an industry-leading maximum cutting load of 35 lbs of force, the Rockwell AW400 F80 Sonicrafter can be pushed harder than any other multi-tool without stalling the blade. And at only 3.2 lbs, it’s easy to grip, maneuver, and use for long stretches. Includes 9 accessories and carry bag, including a 1 3/8” standard wood blade, 1 3/8” precision wood blade, 1 3/8 bimetal blade, 3 1/8” HSS semicircle blade, flexible scraper, sanding pad, and 3 sanding sheets.

So I decided to bite the bullet and get one. I was going to buy the Harbor Freight/Chicago Electric el cheapo one for $25. But I knew this is a tremendously useful tool and didn't want to degrade the experience by just going for cheap. The Porter Cable solutions sound about as "robust" as the HF/CE solution, so if I was willing to spend the money required to get a Porter Cable, I knew I might as well just buy Rockwell.
The F30 was limited, although at a nice price point. The F50 had a lot of recent negative reviews, but sounded like it would probably get the job done. The F80 got such high praise (and basically no substantial negative reviews) that I ponied up the cash.
I'm so glad I did! The additional blades and case were wonderful, but the tool is fantastic! I've used older Dremmels for almost 20 years. They are insanely loud compared to the F80. I can't believe how little it vibrates at any speed! It's comfortable and surprisingly light.
The first time I used it I was cutting pieces of lath. I used the slowest speed and - while I am a habitual user of hearing protection - it was so quiet I didn't put on the ol' ear muffs. Now I would recommend users always use hearing and eye protection! But I thought it was an interesting data point that it was THAT quiet.
I've used this for cutting several times since. It's amazing how precise it is with the 3.4 degree setting! I was shocked at how easily and precisely it can do plunge cuts as well. It helps to score your cut with one of the rigid round blades first if you want to make use of one of the straight blades in the bulk of the cut (the Japanese blade can clear sawdust quickly so you can do deep cuts fast with it - but it doesn't start a plunge with a lot of precision).
There are only two reviews that complain about a failure after 3-6 months. The reviews give no details so who knows how "defective product" and/or "operator error" factored in those failures. However this comes with a 3 year warranty so both of those failures would have been covered.
Update after two years... the second one I got from Rockwell also crapped out after 1 1/2 more projects with HARD use. I beat the heck out of these tools because they're so dang versatile. I make deep plunge cuts into ancient and iron-hard 2x4's, cut metal pipes, etc. So I'm not surprised when they fail. If you use them like a gorilla, as I do, that's expected. But this week I spent only 5 minutes on the phone with Rockwell and I expect that my third tool (for the same single purchase price) will be delivered in a few days for only $5 shipping. You can't beat that!
Another update - I am sending yet another one back because of the same issue - the transmission lever that changes the oscillation speed crapped out again and rendered the tool useless. I'm just over 3 years so I'm out of warranty but since it's an ongoing issue they said they'd replace it "just one more time." This makes four in four years. So if you buy this tool just figure on buying another one every three years and replacing it for free 2-3-4 times in between.
...And yet ONE MORE update! Now on my fourth tool, it crapped out like the rest. The speed lever failed, and it rattles like a banshee. So now I'm pretty sure that I'll look for another brand since this one is definitely out of warranty. Or I could drop another $160 on a tool that I really do like and keep getting new ones with their warranty. But don't expect the transmission on these things to last. Four failures should be enough to prove that.
Top reviews from other countries
Haven't had any issues with blades snapping off using them on bamboo, wood, plastic, nails etc. Never stalls, hasn't gotten stuck in any type of material so far. It kicks up far less particle dust than my Dremel, and cuts far faster, which I love.
A couple of things that are irritating about the tool:
• the zip ties hidden in the TINIEST of crevices, cut right down with virtually no way to grab onto them to cut them open, which made opening the tool box an amazing exercise in total frustration, not kidding in the slightest - expect to be cussing like a trucker getting it open
• the blade release sucks - turn it a little too far & the locking pin drops out; changing out blades takes too long & can be quite fiddly, which just adds to the time of completing any project - most inefficient, crappy system I believe I've run across, but it does hold them very securely
• the LED light on the head of the tool is literally more-than-useless
• the complete & utter lack of usage instructions - absolutely no excuse for this
• the cheap protective foam insert that only the head of the tool fits in, with the rest of the box allowing things to rattle around in it
• the lack of any type of built-in cable tie to keep things together neatly, which I had to make myself
• a pretty cheap 'tool box', for lack of a better word, although all the extra blades I bought & the blades that came with this do fit in the two top compartments, and they do stay shut
• it's pretty damn noisy
• try holding on to the piece you're cutting - good luck with that 😂
• it's pretty damn heavy, but does seem to have a good, strong motor in it
Overall, I like it so far, but still contemplating whether or not I'm keeping it.
