I'm a casual diver and snorkeler, and I live in the tropics in winter so I have a LOT of opportunities to be in the same reef areas repeatedly. I went with an Akaso after reading up on folks' experiences and it was well worth it, and so much more affordable. This camera comes with everything I need to have the ability to capture the fish and coral that I see when I'm in the water (I've taken Akaso cameras down to 90+ feet and it's been just fine.) I did decide to get a red lens that fits over the Akaso case for deeper dives, which is helpful, and have a spare housing, but so far no need for the spare. Also got a decent selfie stick and made sure to put on a retaining cord so I don't lose it.
I don't need anything fancy (yet) but it works well and the battery life is fine. I don't need to worry about sound, although I'm hoping the camera would catch the whale calls we sometimes hear (will post if I have the chance to test that!) But I've been able to get some excellent colors and sweet shots of various fish, which is just what I need. For less than 1/2 of a gopro, it's totally worth it.
The transfer between laptop or iPad and the camera works fine with the Akaso apps, although I prefer to use a SIM card reader (faster). I do all editing and such off the camera, but the image stabilization feature is really helpful while filming.
Also would like to say I've had a VERY positive interaction with Akaso after losing a camera on a dive an appreciate their support and excellent communication very much.
All in all, even if I decide to upgrade to more specialized equipment for photos/video in the future, one of these will aways be in my BCD pocket as a backup at the very least!

Arrived 2 days sooner than expected
So far I haven't tried it yet. Everything was in the box that was supposed to be there's not a lot of instructions but there is a link to the owner's manual I just got to figure out what all of the various parts do with regard to mounting

I don't need anything fancy (yet) but it works well and the battery life is fine. I don't need to worry about sound, although I'm hoping the camera would catch the whale calls we sometimes hear (will post if I have the chance to test that!) But I've been able to get some excellent colors and sweet shots of various fish, which is just what I need. For less than 1/2 of a gopro, it's totally worth it.
