Be aware of photosensitive health care issues
Great item! Only reason for three stars is not because of the controller wire, HD wire or power cord wire shortness! It is the photosensitive light issues (the whole screen flashing / blinking bright and dark from suddenness due to the gaming). Some NES games are known to have health issues when playing. Health issues very from simple headaches to migraine, motion sickness to seizures and even cases epilepsy. Walsh (2014) Nintendo ‘Knew games caused seizuures:’A Nintendo spokeswoman said: 'The notion that Nintendo would knowingly include in its games material that it knew could cause seizures is ridiculous. There is nothing more important to us than the health and wellbeing of our players.'She added: 'We are aware of the Independent Television Commission guidelines for broadcast television. However, in the absence of established guidelines for video games, Nintendo voluntarily prepared and implemented its own internal guidelines for game design and development in 1988.What it means that back then, there wasn’t really much know about health risk when playing photosensitive games or what symptoms that may been brought on while playing the game for hours. Which is understandable, a new product comes out. No one knows what troubles the product may or may not bring. Example, Dr. Devra Davis, author of "Disconnect--The Truth About Cellphone Radiation," , or one of the many cause of women breast cancers may be the result from placing cell phone in women bras. Even though those reports about cell phones are new, the science behind them took time. Another example is cigs, but no matter how many research behind the hazards of smoking. People still smoke. This doesn’t mean that all NES or any video games are bad, each game very on photosensitive issues. My issues about the Nintendo classic edition is: Nintendo could have adjust or fix some of the photosensitive known issues before leasing their product out. Wouldn’t it be logical for someone to say “Time out? Let’s adjust some of old health issues from the past.”Each game very in photosensitive light issues: Example Final Fantasy, Contra, Supper Contra and even some parts of Zelda II. Great classic games, with smooth playing handling! While playing some of these great games, many people will start to suffer small headaches, but because the gaming is so fun and many get into the game. We ignore those small issues, and just take a med or two for the symptoms. The trouble is children to adults just want to keep on playing and ignore those small issues. After time, a simple headache can becomes a migraine or worst.Signs and symptoms warning: Headache to a migraine from playing games from minutes to hour(s). If a person continues to play without restraints, migraine can become worst. From a seizures like reaction, or an epilepsy. My advice is to Limit your or your child game time. My personal experience after 2 hours of playing Contra, Zelda II and few other great games. I started developing a simple headache that turn into migraine, with nausea feeling. It is the same experience as I felt back then when younger. Before I started having migraine, I have already had the system turn off, just not soon enough. Personally, I hate migraines, but if I kept playing without care, I could expose myself to other things much worst. I have read and study related information about photosensitive issues over the years, and those information can be found in many different sights on the web. Personally, I do not want to see anyone facing seizure or epilepsy cases. I am not a medical provider my personal experiences are in emergency medicine and medical technician.First aid: While you are playing video games and if you see a stranger, friend, or love one fall or jerking around like a fish that's on a peer. Catch then if you can and control their fall by laying him or her on the ground gently as possible. What you may have witness is a person who maybe experiencing a seizure or epilepsy reaction. Most importantly to remember, is to stay clam. Try to move things away for that person for his or her safety. You don't want him or her to bump their head on. Take note how long seizures/epilepsy takes. Symptoms can last from seconds to mins. Call 911. You can learn more about basic first aid at your local Red Cross or basic first aid classes. Why is photosensitive issues important? Say you wanted your child bedroom to be freshly painted. Here is a can of paint freshly seal, made just like the paints was made back in the 50s. On this can of paint there is a label, that states "contain lead." In bold red letters. Would you still have your child room painted? No? Why? The paint can fresh, there is a warning posted in red. Was the seller who sold the paint in the wrong? Thankfully after progress, today paint cans that are sold are much safer for your child room. Would it then made more sense for Nintendo to adjust some of the photosensitive issues before releasing their product? Then maybe this product may be a 4 star strong. Personally I still can not get past the shortness of the wires to give this system a perfect five stars.
