Product Description
For 30 years Bayou Classic has been an industry innovator providing outdoor cooking equipment catering to events in every region & every season. Turkey frying season is approaching & Bayou Classic introduces the grand gobbler for frying large turkeys. The new Bayou Classic 42-qt grand gobbler is specifically designed to fry your larger Thanksgiving Turkey to 25 lb & features: 42-qt aluminum stockpot with lid & Riveted handles; patented poultry rack & lift hook; stainless 12" Fry thermometer; 2-oz. Seasoning Injector; protective Leather glove. Made of 99% pure aluminum, this 42-qt Turkey fryer features heavy duty riveted handles & a vented lid. Inside the pot is a patented poultry rack & lift hook designed to create a circular flow of oil up through & around the cavity during the frying process. The final result is cooking your Thanksgiving Turkey golden brown. The select-grain leather glove (right hand only) protects from hot oil as you lift the turkey, to slowly insert & later remove, from the pot. The stainless 12-in. Fry thermometer enables you to monitor & maintain optimal frying temperature. The 2 oz. Seasoning Injector with stainless needle is ideal for infusing your favorite seasonings into the turkey prior to cooking. Use outdoors only with your favorite Bayou Classic high Pressure cooker. Yes, even larger size turkeys to 35-lb can be fried in the grand gobbler, but legs & Wings must first be removed & Fried separately; otherwise, they will overcook. When doing this, fry the turkey body following the standard instructions for whole turkeys. Typically, legs & Wings require 18 Min to cook separately. Remove the rack & hook to use this versatile stockpot year round for cooking soup, shrimp, crabs, corn, peanuts, jambalaya, low Country boil or gumbo. The Bayou Classic Grand gobbler is your next must-have outdoor cooking equipment.

-This thing is BIG. It took 5-6 gallons of oil (I used peanut oil) to fully submerge each turkey because of how wide this fryer is. That's two 3-gallon jugs, each of which runs about $30. So you'll spend $60 on oil alone. If you're planning on frying smaller turkeys, you probably don't need one this big.
-Allow plenty of time for the oil to heat up. 6 gallons is a lot of liquid. It took a good 35 minutes to get the oil up to temperature (325-350 F) before I could put the turkey in. Allow yourself some extra time at the beginning of the cook to heat the oil so that your guests aren't waiting around for the turkey to be done. If it gets done a bit early, you can just rest the turkey a bit longer after it's done and it will stay hot internally and be that much easier to carve up.
-Easy to clean: warm water, soap, a sponge, and some elbow grease were all it took to clean the fryer afterwards. I thought I'd spend a lot of effort scraping the residue but it wasn't bad at all.
-The thermometer was a bit off, it would jump between 275 - 350 sometimes in seconds, which makes me think I got a faulty one. These aren't expensive though so I just picked up a new one at my local hardware store.

Very happy with this product. Would like the aluminum to be a bit thicker but that's a personal 'thing'.

I love how durable the pot feels, cleaned easy, and heated up quickly
I also liked that it came with the accessories
