Update.. replacement arrived, works perfectly. It is a bit noisy, but expected that. Makes great cappuccino, expresso and lattes. Will get another soon.
This gives you a very dark cup of espresso. You can hold down the button to make a desired amount, which is very useful. You can also have the machine preset to make a standard cup of espresso or lungo when pressing a button.
The espresso comes out less hot than the lungo. The espresso comes out at a perfect temperature where a few quick blows will let you drink it less than a minute after brewing, if you enjoy your coffee very hot. The lungo is far hotter. I have not tried this over ice more than a few times, so I cannot comment on how well iced espresso tastes.
The machine is loud and will likely be heard in other rooms. It vibrates strongly when brewing. That is my least favorite part about this product.
It is very easy to clean and maintain. I do not use any sort or poor quality water, and use the machine often. I have never, in three years, experienced any sort of gross buildup like in a coffee pod brewer reservoir. If I need to clean the inside, a few runs of hot water and a quick wipe with a paper towel is all I need to do. There's a compartment at the bottom that catches your empty pod. This needs to be changed when full. I do need to clean and wipe this well routinely, but it is not burdensome.
The machine is slim and is easy to fit on a counter. There is really no setup or assembly required. Just plug in.
The machine works with pods that are not Nespresso brand (I personally use Peet's). Nespresso pods are quite expensive. It does come with a sample pack of them. They are very good, but just too expensive if you drink a lot or coffee.
I bought this on sale on a Black Friday. I think it's worth the money at full price. I would buy it again if it ever broke.
5/5.
It makes a nice espresso for your morning latte and the Nespresso capsules which came with it were a nice sampler however, the Nespresso capsules are expensive, about 70 cents each so the reusable capsules sealed the deal for me buying the machine. But none of them made a good coffee, mostly it was very weak or didn't seal properly. Now what do I do?
Trader Joe's has capsules but they weren't good. Target's Good and Gather brand has capsules and they are better, the vanilla is quite good. I purchased capsules from Bestpresso here on Amazon but haven't tried them yet. When I do, I'll post a review there. Back to the Inissia machine. This is the entry level machine and I have learned from Nespresso that the Inissia machine is DISCONTINUED but they will continue to make the capsules. Other machines do take these little thimble capsules and others take half moon shaped capsules. I found out that sneaky Nespresso's higher level machines have a code reader which will read the code that is found ONLY on Nespresso brand capsules. No code? No brew. So no more refillable capsules or off label capsules if you buy a higher level machine. Personally I think that's a terrible thing and capsules could increase in price and you are stuck buying them because your expensive machine won't work without them. Its like buying a copier that only works with brand color cartridges, that's where they make their money. What a scam. Had this been the case with the Inissia I would have walked because I just don't need it that badly and would use the old school Moka Pot if I wanted espresso that badly.
It seems to be well made and solid. Its heavy and performs well. For $125 I'm keeping it and hoping for the best but I'm not inclined to invest in a higher level Nespresso machine for the afore mentioned reasons. For reference, I'm not a coffee connoisseur but I like more than your average drip coffee. I have a vintage percolator, a Moka Pot (Greca) and I've grown tired of weak, meh, artificially flavored k-cups in all sorts of bakery flavors. I prefer Lavazza which seems to be middle of the road.
I have discovered that if you buy full fat Oat Milk like Silk or Oatly, fill your cup half way then microwave to heat it, you then make your Nespresso Lungo over it and it makes a very nice creamy latte (I wasn't looking for nondairy anything, it just happens to be delicious).

I'd get myself a machine but then I'd drink far too much coffee!
The compact size is a real selling point!
The warm up time is quick
and the coffee is very hot.
The sample pods help discern
the flavours that are most appealing.
An excellent gift for a coffee aficionado.
