---|---|---|---|
Powerful Wi-Fi for Incredible PerformanceThe RE650 deploys 4-Stream and 256 QAM technologies to create lightning-fast AC2600 connections. 4-Stream adds an extra data stream to both of the range extender's Wi-Fi bands, and 256 QAM expands the overall capacity of the dual bands. With 4-Stream and 256 QAM working together, the RE650 can handle the demands of gaming at higher settings and streaming in 4K without buffering or lag hampering your online experience.¹ |
Intelligent Processing Engine for Wi-Fi Without InterruptionThe RE650's Intelligent Processing Engine balances the demands of your devices to keep Wi-Fi connections fast and smooth. The engine sends Wi-Fi traffic to dedicated processors, leaving the extender's powerful dual-core CPU to take care of everything else. With intelligent processing, you can game online, stream in 4K and download large files while your Wi-Fi remains fast and all your connections stay strong. |
MU-MIMO for the Best ConnectionsWave 2 Wi-Fi technology equips the RE650 with MU-MIMO, which lets the extender talk to several devices at once over the same Wi-Fi band. This simultaneous communication maximizes the performance of all your devices, even when they're running at the same time. When paired with a router that also uses MU-MIMO technology, the RE650 delivers extended Wi-Fi that minimizes wait times and turbo-charges all of your Wi-Fi connections.¹ |
Quad-Antenna Design for Expansive CoverageThe RE650's powerful quad-antenna design boosts its Wi-Fi coverage to a phenomenal degree. Four high-powered antennas minimize coverage dead spots and create strong, reliable Wi-Fi connections with devices in the farthest corners of your home. Beamforming technology makes the RE650's already impressive coverage even better. With Beamforming, the RE650 can detect the direction of its Wi-Fi connections and focus its wireless signal towards them, helping strengthen your home's overall Wi-Fi performance. |

There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
I bought a couple of cheaper extenders ($50 or less) as they had good reviews… similar ones to this product anyway.
Both of them were complicated to setup and the second one didn’t even work.
This one, as mentioned earlier, had similar reviews with a higher price tag so I didn’t see why it was worth trying…
Having no choice I made the purchase and am so glad I did.
This thing is a no brainer, it seriously took me so little effort to setup. Which I found odd cause the most common negative comment I see in the reviews is about setup.
This thing is damn near plug and play. You just plug it in, wait a minute and it’s in your available WiFi networks. The tether app seems like a pointless step but the app is actually really good. It tells you if you’re too close to the router and makes it very easy to optimize placement.
One thing that thoroughly impressed me is how once you select your router, it remembers it. Even if you unplug it, it will immediately reconnect when plugged back in.
Not one extender or pod from cable company has ever done this. It’s seriously plug and play.
My speed with the router was 120mb/s down and 30mb/s up at highest with 50ms ping.
My speed with the extender is 190mb/s down and 100mb/s up with 17ms ping.
The ping is the big thing and consistency in connection. My speed tests for the router with no extender varied from 30mb/s down up to 120mb/s down and the needle was jumpy. The extender produced consistent numbers and low ping.

So last week I finally decided to give another chance to look for a better Extender, I found this, but at first I didn't have much high hope, I would just try it and then refund it if the performance is not what I expected. But to my surprise, the signal is so much stronger providing VERY stable and solid connections ! Now I feel 100% with this extender providing solid connection, I can see my devices loading faster, and not drops at all, everything just work so much better now. Very happy. Now in my case, I'm not so much concerned about "dead zones" is more like I need a solid connection to where I need to use it and this extender performed just that, a solid connection. My internet connect is pretty solid so if the extender can extend it, then everything will be fine, again, this extender did a solid job in extending connection. I'm sure this extender can always broadcast a very long range of connection to help reduce dead zones/spots.
Oh, in terms of installation/setup, I do recommend to use the "Tether" app to setup. It's easier for most users. But if you have experience with extenders, you can always connect to the extender network and use a browser (i.e. your phone, iPad, or even a computer) to configure and setup the extender. For me, I used the Tether app to setup the Extender, and I used the Tether app to check status of the extender but the browser offers you more options in settings (i.e. changing wifi passwords - you cannot do that with the Tether app). The instructions are all there in the piece of paper and it's not long so don't need to be scared, it's pretty easy. Just follow what it says. And basically you can just setup/configure using the Tether app but the app is 80 Mb so I might delete it and just connect to the extender and configure / monitor from a browser going forward (just need to save the URL on my browser)
If you want to use the Tether to setup/configure this extender you will need (do it before you setup the extender):
1. Create a d-link account (very easy, just need an email and create a password)
2. Have a Password Handy for your Extender - make 1 up (You need to create a login password to your Extender - You don't want everyone to be able to connect to your Extender and mess things up right?) - you will still need this even if you don't use a Tether app to setup your extender.
3. Have your WIFI password ready (the password of the WIFI connection that you want the extender to use). If you are connecting your extender to your router/modem directly with a cable, you do not need this but I think most people are trying to extender their WIFI connections wirelessly.
Worth every penny imo, I got this on sale for $60 CDN + tax. . 5 Stars product. Good Luck and hope this extender will be the last one you need for years to come.
