Cost Effective Way to Protect Floor
I wanted to protect the new garage floor but didn't want to apply epoxy or similar, as I've heard about problems with durability. Two mats cost under $300 and did a great job with both rain and snow. Be aware that you will need to squeegee during very wet weather; they did include a wide squeegee with each mat. I'm sure the retailer would not recommend, but I cut long side barriers off and taped the two pieces together in order to make them suit my purpose. I anticipate these lasting for several years and will probably replace with the same product when the time comes.

Needed a garage floor mat to collect snow and dirt that falls off the car - so it doesn't spread across the rest of the garage. This mat is made of a heavy duty material, and seems to hold up well. The edges are a thick cushioned roll to contain liquids. I placed it down at the start of the winter and it's done a great job catching all the water, snow, and dirt that drips and falls of the car. The thick material does not completely flatten out - there are still creases from the original material shipping folds, but it doesn't hurt the performance. The creases might flatten out in very warm weather. The thick edge runs all around the mat, so I'll likely need to pull it out of the garage in the spring and wash it down. It includes a squeegee, but you'd have to move the mat to a floor drop so that you could fold down the cushioned edge and drain one side, otherwise your effort is blocked by the thick edge. I don't use the squeegee because the water seems to evaporate after a day or two. The mat doesn't stick to the concrete floor, but doesn't slip when the car pulls in or drives out. Generally, if you looking for a durable, functional garage floor "tray" that can collect all the water and dirt that falls off your car, this works great. One other thing - the thick cushioned edge is soft enough to step on, but would be bothersome to be walking over it ALL the time. If you walk through your garage more often then just parking the car, then you should arrange the mat so that the edge does not fall right in a major traffic path inside your garage.

When I received this mat, it was a little hard to get it to lay down flat because it was cold. Once it warmed up, it did lay down pretty flat but there were wrinkles where it had been folded. I don't see this as a problem since I didn't expect it to lay perfectly flat anyway. The material is think and strong (see below story) It has held all the water from my melting car and is relatively easy to clean up with a wet & dry vac.

So here's what impressed me the most. I have a 20 horse riding mower with a 42 inch snowblower attachment. The other day I accidentally sucked the mat up with my snowblower as I was driving into the garage (thought I turned the auger off). The mat wrapped around the serrated auger in my snowblower. It snapped one shear pin and bent the other. I had visions of pulling the mat out in shreds. It took me 45 minutes to get the mat unwrapped from the auger. after I checked the mat, I found two small tears from the serrated auger. Both were about an inch long. I CAN NOT BELIEVE the abuse this mat took with so little damage. The tears will be easy to fix with Tear Aid patches.

If you have any concerns about the durability of this mat, don't worry. It will hold up.

Fits under the truck perfectly. 6’ bed double cab Tacoma. Did not need to use the adhesive pads it came with as it has not moved around underneath. Has kept snow off the garage floor; will have to wait until spring to see how easy it is to clean.

Spring Update: it does a good job keeping sand, salt, snow, etc. off of the floor all winter. A few times I dragged it outside to brush off the snow/water. It does “sweat” so the ground gets wet as snow melts, but the mat contains the melted snow- hope that makes sense! Fits under the truck perfectly. 6’ bed double cab Tacoma. Did not need to use the adhesive pads it came with as it has not moved around underneath. Has kept snow off the garage floor; will have to wait until spring to see how easy it is to clean.

Spring Update: it does a good job keeping sand, salt, snow, etc. off of the floor all winter. A few times I dragged it outside to brush off the snow/water. It does “sweat” so the ground gets wet as snow melts, but the mat contains the melted snow- hope that makes sense! We love our fairly new epoxy coated floor but found that the water just stands on it after a rain. For whatever reason our Tesla seems to leave lots of big puddles after on the garage floor. I was constantly squeegeeing the water out of the garage. Found this mat and the problem is solved! Water is contained on the mat and I can easily squeegee or mop it up with towels. No more tracking water in the house or water stains on the floor. Plan to buy another for our other, much smaller car soon.

For my 2010 Prius, the shorter size is perfect. Works great, every once in a while I use a mop & bucket to mop up the water, and so far none has escaped the edge of the pad. I don't bother to stick it down, it doesn't need to be perfectly flat, hasn't been an issue that it's not, actually holds water better with the wrinkles. So far seems tough and durable. Wish I'd have had one years ago, no more rescuing boxes etc. on the garage floor from major flooding.

I live in Northwest Colorado and drive a crazy number of miles in the winter. My car picks up unbelievable amounts of ice and road grime. Since my garage does not have a drain and is heated, the melt completely overtakes the entire garage! I purchased this knowing all the pros and cons as I had one in a previous rental. I made sure to get the size large enough that I don’t have to be crazily precise when parking. It catches 99% of the mess. When the pad starts getting full-ish and the weather does not allow me to pull it out of the garage to clean it, a small amount of spillage happens as I drive onto and off of it close to the garage door. It’s kind of a pain to clean…I wait until a decent day and carefully pull it out onto the driveway. I use my heavy duty garage broom to push all the mud and melt to the end of the pad and then vigorously push it over and out of the pad. In the summer I pull it out and spray it down to clean it. It does tend to “creep “ a little since the means to attach it to the garage floor never works. I just continue to adjust it as needed. It’s cumbersome to get out and down in the beginning, so grab a friend to help. Once down, it’s easy to slide into place as needed. If you are a clean freak in a warmer climate, this might be for you as well.

We have a very old, small, heated, detached garage with a slightly sloped floor. Our problem is that the snow melts off our car once it's in the garage and then pools up against the wall because of said sloped floor.

We went with the small size of this mat which fits well in our garage but by the time we got around to laying it out in our garage it was cold, and our garage floor was very cold.

The mat comes with some velcro adhesive pads but due to the cold dirty floor, they didn't stick to the floor at all. So they were useless. At first we had to use weights to keep the mat down and stop it from sliding when a car drove over it. It also takes a while before it flattens out, especially when it's cold.

However, once it has a bit of melted snow on it, it stays pretty flat. The melted snow is a blessing and a curse. It puddles up very fast when there's lots of snow outside. But the weight of the water keeps the mat down.

On cleaning: Some other reviews mention using a squeegee, but that was just extra messy for us. We found a wet/dry vacuum is way more convenient and so we just suck up all the melted snow water and dump it outside.

I think this mat isn't for everyone, but it's the best solution we could find so far to contain all the water from our car once it's in our garage. And with the shop vac trick it's not too bad if we stay on top of it.
