First - the good! It worked right out of the box. Putting the software onto my Kindle HD8 from the Google Play Store (I have play store side-loaded onto the kindle) was easy and following the directions, it immediately worked. Playing around with it in normal room light, the camera is really pretty good. It's not HD-quality...but you're not going to get HD quality in a camera this small! The app seems to work well. When I took it out to the driveway and started using it to look for a coolant leak in my truck, it continued to work well. Takes some getting used to - but I learned pretty quick how to adjust the LED brightness for the best picture, etc... I really like that the cord is flexible, but yet stiff - I had to mold it into a J shape to get a look under the water pump pulley from below while inserting it into the engine bay from above. The LED lighting works well and has a very wide adjustment range. I took a couple of pictures - the first two above are with the boroscope as-received, without any of the adapters hooked up. I like the little hook adapters - I'll probably be using these in the future. They screw on firmly and I'd have no problems using them to "fish" stuff from delicate places like engine intakes, cylinders, etc...
Second, the not so good! The DEPSTECH application is not available from Amazon - or at least I couldn't find it after a couple of searches. For me that was no big deal, my Kindle HD8 is setup with the Google Play Store side-loaded, so I got it from the play store. For folks with Kindles without Google Play side-loaded...not sure you'll be able to use this.
However, side-loading Google Play isn't hard and really opens up the Kindle to software you just cannot get from Amazon. It would be nice if the app could be available thru the Amazon App Store. I was very disappointed with the right-angle mirror adapter. The third picture was taken with it installed. It's almost like the camera isn't aligned with the mirror, so only a portion of the mirror is in the field of view of the camera. The rest of the image outside the mirror is the camera looking straight on. Also, the mirror seems to not be all that reflective - taking away a lot of the light from the camera! It's pretty useless, which is a shame as one of the selling points of this camera was the right-angle mirror adapter. I played around with the mirror for a good 20 minutes, thinking that perhaps it was dirty (it wasn't) or that it needed to not be screwed on all the way (that didn't help either). Adjusting the light level didn't help either. Maybe I got a bum mirror?
Bottom line - for the price I paid, I'm three stars out of five happy. Outside the right-angle attachment, it's a five-stars tool. I'm sure it's going to save my bacon in the future. But I really was looking forward to using the right-angle mirror, so when that didn't work...I had to take away two stars as that was the main reason I chose this unit over others.
Update 14 JAN 2019: Was contacted by Depstech customer support - they are going to send another right angle adapter. Very good customer service - so I added a star to make it four stars. Will update again when I receive the new adapter.
Update 23 JAN 2019: I received the replacement right-angle adapter a few days ago. Clearly, the first one I received was a dud - these new ones looked much better. The mirror was absolutely crystal clear, while the old one seemed like it had a film on it that was bluish-white in color. I installed it onto the boroscope and gave it a test. It works much better than the old one. It's not perfect, but for the price, it's very reasonable and will get the job done. As another review said, when using the right angle adapter, you've got to be very careful in setting the illumination as you can white-out the image quite easily.
So I'm updating this to a five star review considering what the unit cost and taking into account the EXCELLENT customer service I get from Depstech. These guys stand behind their product, respond to e-mails, and made things right for me.

So I'm updating this to a five star review considering what the unit cost and taking into account the EXCELLENT customer service I get from Depstech. These guys stand behind their product, respond to e-mails, and made things right for me.
1) Ease of use:
This endoscope is certainly very easy to use. Pairing it with your phone is simple: just download the Depstech app, follow the included instructions, and you're all set. There aren't many settings to adjust, either: you can select from four different screen resolutions, and you can rotate the image clockwise or counterclockwise in 90-degree increments.
Probably the biggest limitation of this endoscope is that once you insert it into whatever area you want to see, you have virtually no ability to steer or redirect it. Higher-end endoscopes, such as those used in the medical field, have a controller with knobs that will bend the tip of the scope so it can be "steered," but this endoscope cannot do that (but for less than $40 you can't expect it to!). You can pre-shape the scope by bending the tip for the path you'll need it to take, but once you insert it into whatever cavity you are viewing, the only way to change its shape is to pull it out and bend it again.
This inability to steer the scope requires you to be somewhat creative with how you use it. For example, if you want to see behind a piece of drywall, you need a good sized opening. If you only want to make a small hole in the wall, you might try drilling it at a 45 angle in the direction you want the scope to go rather than drilling it perpendicularly through the wall. On the other hand, if you have a long narrow pipe you want to inspect, you can probably just continue to feed the scope through the pipe and it will flex enough to follow the pipe's path.
You can somewhat compensate for the inability to flex the tip of the scope by rotating the scope with your fingertips once it is inserted into a viewing space, but this obviously becomes more difficult the farther you insert the scope.
2) Image quality:
I would call the image quality "good enough," which is to say that you can probably see well enough to accomplish whatever you are trying to do. The camera doesn't seem to be able to focus on anything closer than an inch or two away, so this may not work well in super small spaces. I also found I needed to adjust the brightness setting up and down a lot, depending on what the scope was pointed at. Having to keep one finger on the brightness knob certainly made the scope more difficult to use because it left me only one hand to hold and steer the actual scope.
3) Included accessories:
The scope includes three tools which can be quite useful: a hook, a magnet, and a 90-degree camera. I actually used the when I needed to fish a thin power cable vertically behind a drywall: First I drilled 1/2" holes in the wall, then I dropped a string weighted with a washer through the top hole, and then I used the hook of the endoscope to pull it through the bottom hole. Finally I tied this string to one end of the power cable and pulled the cable back up through the wall. The endoscope definitely made this project easier.
4) Battery life:
With a fully charged battery I got about 12 minutes of use before I needed to recharge the scope, and I did not have the light on its brightest setting. Again, this is a consumer-grade tool and not well suited to all-day-long professional use.
Overall impression: It's not perfect, but it's a very useful tool at a reasonable price. It's the kind of tool that will likely come in handy more often than you would expect.

Top reviews from other countries
I was using this to scope for rodent activity in the spaces between floors of my house, and it worked well for that, despite having a relatively short imaging range. The shaft was firm enough to handle being moved out to its full length, which made a scan along the length of the floor joists quite simple.
A good idea would be to have some kind of phone holder on a tripod or similar so that you can work solo - moving the camera while also juggling a smartphone is a bit tedious.
DEPSTECH sent me this scope as a replacement for one that was never delivered by Amazon, and I'm glad to have received this model.
* App is simple. A bit primitive looking but functional
* Needed to make sure an o-ring was seated correctly, was super easy to tell
* Checked two cylinders and found one cylinder was steam cleaned - bad news but at least I now know.
