this is the first stamping set I've baught& I'm very happy with it. I didn't want to spend to much $$ just in case I ended up not liking doing metal stamping but I also didn't want to buy cheap junk that wasn't going to work at all. The price of these is pretty good & they work great, they seem really strong. I've only used them on soft metals but they seem sturdy enough to use on harder metals.

I used these to stamp numbers in 1018 steel, 1144 steel and brass. Of course the brass was easy. The 1018 took more force and I really needed a good stroke of the hammer for the 1144. All numbers came out legible.

The tendency is to hold the hammer in the middle because you want more control and you don't want to flatten your fingers. But you need to hold the hammer towards the end of the handle and take advantage of the length of the handle. Just keep your eye on the end of the stamp and you will hit true.

I purchased these along with some copper tags to create labels for my plants. This is a great, sturdy set of stamps. The perfect size for the small tags I had.

If it's your first time doing metal stamping, I'd suggest getting a somewhat hard surface to place the metal on for stamping -- a thin plastic cutting board over some wood worked perfect for me. This makes the letters come out more crisp.

They are exactly what I wanted for stamping softer metals. Thanks

The only problem was that an empty packet showed up the first time, and it then showed up with the punch kit the second time around, after I pointed it out.
Unfortunately the way to return the empty packet was by using some sort of emblem on the computer and scan it.

Since I am an old man, and not familiar with all these new things, I was not able to return the empty packet, and no return address for returns was made obvious to me.
So, Amazon charged twice for 1 punch kit.
Oh well, C'est la vie !
