The unknown truth about split screen. Along with some good stuff.
So, at first use this monitor is everything I wanted it to be. However, I had mad some assumptions and I don't want the next gamer to make the same mistake. I mad a lateral movement from 2 24" monitors. These were good monitors and I've still got them. I plan to keep using them elsewhere. I mention this because moving to this monitor was a downgrade in real estate. I knew this moving in and still considered it to be a lateral moment. Not an upgrade, not a down grade... just a lateral movement. I had assumed from my research that the split screen mode would reserve a portion of the screen for a browser window or something, but when you play a game it does not use the same rules and will use the entire screen, even if the game doesn't support it. I've tried other windowed modes, which are annoying at best. I just wanted to make sure other gamers knew this when they took the dive into a ultra wide monitor. I have employed the use of a much smaller monitor off to the side for web browsing while gaming. This isn't bad, it's just something I didn't find when doing my research of this monitor and I feel it should be clearly stated somewhere.Now... the good things... two things you don't really see from the description, there'a a headphone stand on the back of the monitor. If you can reach it, it is a really good place to hang your headphones. Second, if you connect up with HDMI you can get sound through the monitor. I didn't realize it had speakers built in and they're not bad, but shallow sounding and not really great for music. I only use them when I want my son or wife to hear something on my PC as the only other output I have setup are my headphones.Update... something that has been bothering me slightly. There is very little plastic bezel at the top and sides. Just like you would see on a bezel-less display, However, not all the screen beyond that is used. I've added a picture so you can see. There's approximately 3/8th inch or about 1 cm on top and each side that is not used. I would say that 98% of the time I don't really care or notice it. The biggest reason I mention it is because when I first noticed it I thought I had messed up my resolution and I just wasn't using the screen properly. To be honest, their advertised picture also shows this as a black area so the product is as advertised.

I bought this monitor mainly for my Macbook Pro. I needed something to increase productivity. Secondary use is for gaming. I have a Nintendo Switch and a PS4 for gaming. I will talk about my experience on both scenario.
Connectivity 5/5
For connection, I used a Display Port cable with a USB-C for my Macbook, and an HDMI cable to connect my PS4/Switch. This is very easy to connect to my laptop and gaming consoles. The monitor control is located at the center bottom of the screen. I really like that feature for easy access. It also uses a little joystick mechanism for you to change settings such as volume, power on/off, input, etc.
Monitor Speaker 4/5
I am fairly happy with the monitor speaker. I was planning to buy a sound bar, but not anymore. I do not listen to music using this monitor speaker, but I can definitely get by when watching lectures or some videos. If your main purpose is heavy on music and watching, I'd suggest buying sound bar to go with your setup for a better experience. As for gaming, I don't really play with high volume anyway so I really am satisfied in this department.

This is the first time I owned an LG monitor. With a 75 refresh rate, this is monitor does an amazing job on both PS4 and Switch. If you are gaming on a high end PC, I'd suggest for something with a higher refresh rate as my gaming PC setup got separate monitors. This will really depend on what kind of gamer you are. I really like the colors on this panel, it's really bright and the contrast is good as well. I really like this when connected to my Macbook. I do not do any photo/video editing so I can't really comment on that side of productivity. I mainly use this for programming and studying when connected to my computer. It really does the job for me.
Overall, I highly recommend this monitor! I got it on sale for $100 off. Definitely snag it when you get the chance to buy it at a discounted price.
