Bought the Bauer Harbor Freight Jack Hammer for $400-$450 and within about 1 hour of use the motor seized. Returned it with/for an $80 restocking fee :(. Bought this (VEVOR brand) one on Amazon for $160 and filled the hydraulic oil reservoir with SAE 20W-50 and is running like a champ!!! Not only is this more powerful than the Bauer Harbor Freight jack hammer but is also lighter and cheaper. Helped me do an interior french drain in my basement with 3-6 inches thick concrete. Works really well and is still going strong. A big thankful thumbs up!!!!!!!

Many years ago my first job was working for a concrete company. I’ve spent many hours behind industrial jack hammers so perhaps this review will help your decision in purchasing this jack hammer.
So for two hundred bucks I believe you’ll definitely get your monies worth. I used mine to break up a 70 year old driveway under a carport that had tree roots starting to break it beyond repair. The slab was approx. 4 yards worth of concrete.
This machine gets hot but takes a while to get there. I’d take a 10-15 minute break every hour and place the hammer in front of a fan to help it cool off. I wanted to be sure not to burn it up.
I broke the tip of both bits fairly quickly but it seemed to have no real effect on the hammer. Just had to bend over an extra inch or so.
I’m 6’ tall and it’s hard standing upright while using this.

IMPORTANT!!!! After my second hour of using the hammer I noticed on the ground a new looking allen head bolt directly underneath where I was working. I stopped immediately to check the hammer to see if said bolt fell out. Sure enough it had come from the hammer. I also noticed all the allen headed bolts located on the collar of the bottom of the hammer were either on the verge of coming out or extremely loose! So I’d advise before it’s first use make sure to tighten ALL FASTENERS on this machine! I’m not sure what would’ve happened if they all would’ve fallen out but I’m sure it wouldn’t have been pretty.
There’s a site glass on the outside of the machine that tells you how much hydraulic oil is there. Besides the site glass is a sticker that advises to fill with hydrolic oil before first use. I did not have to fill it as it was already completely full.
Anyway other than loose bolts this machine did exactly what I needed it to do. Saved myself about $600 in labor by busting up the old driveway.

I owned a bosch electric jackhammer (the yellow one everybody knows) until it got stolen, last year. i bought this breaker because it cost the same as a bosch one day rental. worst case scenario, i'd return it if it was garbage. as it turned out, it worked pretty good...and my guys liked how light it was to use. the tool comes with a couple of replacement carbon brushes...don't lose them. after a few months of heavy duty, the tool stopped working. i swapped out the carbon brush and the tool worked. unfortunately, i went through both replacement brushes over a 6 month period. i notified the seller, and, while it took a few weeks, they sent me out several replacement brushes...for free. in the interim, i found other carbon brushes on amazon that looked like what i needed. i bought a few, and they worked, too (4pcs longlife 999044 Carbon Brush replacement for Hitachi 999044, S7-17/44, 614367-00). i liked this tool so much, i bought a 2nd one.

Bought this to remove a 15ftx15ft section of concrete from my basement. After renting a 90lb Makita for 4 hours for $90 I realized it was going to be more economical to buy. Not only was the Makita going to be expensive, it was quite cumbersome and difficult to move around. This jackhammer is a great combination of size and power. It is strong enough to break up the 6in deep concrete and also light enough (around 50lbs) that it won't wear you out right away. Is it a product for someone who is going to be doing heavy-duty jackhammering on a consistent basis? Probably not. But at this price, this jackhammer is really a great value for a DIYer or a professional who may need occasional use. Make sure you do fill it with oil before starting work and ALWAYS wear eye protection, ear protection, and hand protection.

I am 58 years old and not exactly an Athlete. The 42 lbs is the shipping weight. Takeout one of the bits and the actual operating weight is less than 40 lbs. The instructions are a joke, but go on You Tube and you can find information on how to operate the unit. Two tips. Make sure you fill it with oil. I here they recommend W 40. I used 90-110W gear oil since I could find 40 W. I also greased the shaft of the bits.

If you are breaking up a large area, you may find that this takes longer than a $1000 70 lbs jackhammer. I used it to open up trenches in a basement to reroute pipes. It is perfectly adequate for that. The hardest part is opening up an initial hole. Don't just bury the bit or it will get stuck. Work back and forth from a couple directions. Then hammer, clear debris, repeat.

There are some cheaper hammers, but some people seemed unhappy with those. This thing had good reviews. I had no problem and actually found it easier to used than I thought it would be. Safety goggles are a must. Consider a full face-shield if you don't like chunks of concrete hitting you in the face.

Pros: Heavy and Strong. You can feel it. You don't have to push too much to eat concrete. I got it because I need to make a drain trench and this baby will make it easier. use protective eyes googles and expect concrete chips flying around. Mine came with a superficial crack in the tip attachment base and the point chisel has one too. I don't know if I have to worry about it. that old concrete base was gone in about 1 minute and cleaning with the flat chisel took like 3 min. I will remove all of them later. I don't know why they didn't include a plastic case since they are so cheap to manufacture in China. Update: 2 years later now and this beast is still working like new. I got the shovel adapter and is perfect to dig holes easily up to 2 feet deep.
