My 4-year old daughter uses it for school. Some days she turned from school and saying that I couldn’t eat my food because teacher couldn’t open my jar. I tried as well it was very difficult to open. I was very sorry to hear that she couldn’t eat her food. It may be a general problem for food jars because food in it is hot or warn and maybe difficult to open but I decided to not to use it for school again.

My 5YO daughter sometimes takes a hot lunch to school. We have put warm mac 'n cheese and hot soup in this container, and they stay warm until lunchtime. I close it tightly and it doesn't leak in her bag. We clean it in the top rack of the dishwasher, with no problems. The small plastic utensil that comes with it, and its holder, aren't useful for our daughter because the utensil isn't held tightly, and would fall off and get lost in her backpack. These would be a better fit for a younger child where mom/dad are carrying the container.
