Update 1/31/23: 1 year going strong. This has been the most reliable router I've ever owned (even more than my old Linksys WRT54GL!). In fact, I have my wifi6 router now as a backup to this one. Why? Because this one JUST WORKS. No compatibility issues to deal with. Lots of speed to handle a network with 20-30 devices. For working from home, it's worked perfectly after the issues I previously tolerated where wifi devices would drop their connections. Yes, I do still have it cooled with a USB fan (just in case), and as a precaution I reboot it once month since it's a critical piece of equipment for work (it has never hiccuped or slowed down though). If I could change one thing it would be for TP-link to bring back the bandwidth limiter feature that was available with the C3150..but it's not needed with a 300/10 Spectrum internet service plan. I'm still getting the same speeds in tests run in my previous review updates here and still able to stream live TV (left it on several days during Christmas break without any issues) and can still stream 4K/1080p an entire day without any hiccups. With the prices this model sells for nowadays it's a great deal! I can't speak for its wifi range because I live in a smaller (800 sq feet) apartment, but I can confirm its stability and reliability.
Update 11/25/22: It's been running for more than 9 months without any hiccups. Around July 2022 Spectrum upgraded everyone from 200 to 300 Mbps for their intro Internet Service Plan. I set 5 Ghz channel width to auto and did some tests. Am able to get 310-330 Mbps when testing over wifi now. The speed test in the firmware shows just over 340 Mbps consistently. I've stopped using the QoS settings (just set it to Standard), since it doesn't appear that I need them now. Good value with this product!
Update 6/25/22: Made it past the 3-4 month period a lot of people are reporting failures at. Crossing my fingers that this router lasts as many customers are reporting it runs really warm (mine does as well) and the wifi radios fail. I still have it cooled by a USB fan in hopes of avoiding that situation. So far no problems, disconnects or slowdowns experienced. I started off with a Trendnet AC2600 router with a Qualcomm Atheros chipset. In its day it was good, but it doesn't play well with some wifi devices as those drop their connections. Next I tried the Asus RT-AX88U which turned out to be a big disappointment. Many customers are reporting issues with the DHCP WAN implementation in its firmware. Setting DHCP query to 'Normal' instead of 'Agressive' or 'Continuous' did not resolve the issue where it drops its Internet connection. I see many reports of that issue with Asus 384 and 386 firmware on SNB forums. The RT-AX88U sits on the side as I figure out what to do with the firmware (too late to return it). Finally decided to give TP-Link a try with the C2300 and have not been disappointed! It's very easy to set up yet the firmware has just enough advanced settings for me.
I'm only on a 200 mbps down / 10 mbps up Spectrum plan so I've not had any motivation to run 5 Ghz wifi at higher than 40 Mhz channel width. With newer devices that have 2x2 wifi adapters I consistently get around 230 mbps down and 12 mbps up. I have an older laptop that has a 1x1 wifi adapter (the temperamental Intel 3165). That older laptop gets consistently 150 mbps down and 11 mbps up with my current configuration...and that's all I need! It can stream 1080p and 4k video without any hiccups, freezes or buffering! On average I'm getting 10 mbps faster on speed tests than I did with my AC2600 router. As far as working from home, it's been a smooth experience. Even Teams and Zoom meetings screens load quickly. I no longer see choppiness of moving objects video for these meetings. I highly recommend this router..but I know there's a risk of getting bad parts. I keep several around as spares in case it fails..but really hope it lasts!
3/11/22: I've been using the this router (version 1 hardware) and it's beating all of my AC2600 routers in speed tests as well as normal use like downloads and file transfers! At first I couldn't believe it and kept running speed tests to make sure it wasn't a fluke. One word of advice I have is to make sure you cool this router as the chipset runs hot. I put a USB powered fan on the top of it to draw the hot air out. I hope that helps with longevity.
I like this router so much I bought a 2nd one as a backup! That one turned out to have version 2 hardware (1 USB port only). It does still have Homecare with QoS and virus/malware protection so all is well. I can't speak for version 2 just yet because version 1 is holding steady as a workaholic. Will post updates as time goes by as it's only been running for almost a month without reboots.
We should evaluate a router from many perspectives, and that is what I did:
1. Ease of set up: I have a DSL modem (Uverse) environment, and have a very old router came with the service. Not the easiest environment to insert another router in the middle, but TP-Link AC2300 works really well, I did not even set up any port forwarding or pinhole on my firewall, the router configures itself to my network automatically. It works with both my firewall as is, also it works after I adjust my firewall, plug and play works really well.
2. Performance: I did a test of the network performance, it basically reaches the line limit of what the maximum throughput the internet provider can provide, in this case about 95% of the possible throughput from DSL line.
3. Compatibility: So far, all my devices are working properly, Windows, Android, iPhone, iPad, Linux.
4. Apps: The apps from Android Play store works really well (Tether), it gives me all the essential information to manage this router from my cell.
5. Features: all the features, including the parental control, are working fine, the only thing I find a bit problematic is the browser application has some problem with the parental control function, it works well on the Android app though. The browser version just cycling without getting me anywhere.
All in all, this is a really good home router, it takes all the complexity of setup a home router from the user, and it has the performance and feature to boot. Real good product!
As a router it is way more than we will need for a long long time. I am located in a pretty rual location. My internet speed is only 6 mps. Which is turtle speed compared to much of the rest of the country. Our country is a joke as far as what is offered for high speed internet to rual citizens. Regardless, this router replaces a netgear nighthawk R6700v2 AC1750 router. We have 14 or more wifi devices connected at on time. Our slow internet still allows our family of 4 to all being doing something on the internet at one time as long as we aren't streaming more than 1 video at a time. The old netgear router struggled with so many devices attached at one time. Causing very short brief buffering while playing games on our tablets or xbox that were live. The C2300 does seem to have any trouble even with 4 devices playing games at the same time. These are pretty low bandwidth games, like clash of clans, clash royale, My daughter can watch youtube my son and I can play games as a team and we have not had any trouble now. I think the MU-MIMO technology really helps that. Both the previous 2 routers and older Linksys n300, then the R6700 had trouble with so many devices in use at one time even if they are using relatively low bandwdith. Only time will tell how this router performs but so far its very positive.
I had numerous problems with the nighthawk. I am surprised the nighthawk has so many positive reviews. After having 2 of them one was replaced under warranty after less than a year and the replacement being replaced with the tp-link after only being used 2 months I gave up on netgear hardware. Their customer service was horrendous, I wasted over 16 hours on the phone with the Tech people in india, and then had a difficult time getting a refund for the $120 they wanted up front for tech support, in case the router problems were not related to hardware but software on my system. Tp link's warranty is longer and covers more, hopefully I wont have to use it
The parental controls as long as they work are really great. It is easy to use the preset filtering to the devices that the kids use and even set time limits and bed time. The parental controls were the biggest factor I chose this router. Other than spending over twice as much for a mesh system that I do not need, and very few have a usb 3.0 port to connect an external hard drive. This was one of the few routers that included easy to use parental controls and an app to use them. You can do more with the web based router controls, but the app does a lot by itself. There is way more high end features that I will never know how to use in the web interface. Like setting up a VPN without the need for a pay VPN server.
Signal strength seems to be excellent, even the on the 5 gh band I have 3 or more close but outside our ranch style home. The 2.4 signal streches out even further. No need for a mesh style router or signal extenders. The router is located about the middle of the home, but right at ground level in the celing of the basement. I haven't tested speeds to and from the router and internet speeds would be far under what it could handle due to,my slow but only choice for an ISP, anyway. This router will be long gone before I have an incoming service that will be able to support more than it can handle.
I will update this review in the future. But right now I would highly recommend it for a house hold router. Unless you really need very high end specs for extreme bandwidth use I can't see needing anything more. And it is great for parents that want an easy way to check what their kids are doing on the internet and block offensive sites.

Ótimo custo benefício!
Pros:
1.Support for USB Storage. It supports multiple storage devices at a time.
2.Trend Micro Security and OpenVPN is simply awesome.
3.Offers Gigabit Speeds.
4.Provides range to a larger extent.
5.It offers several good features as like other routers like parental controls and MAC Filtering.
6.MIMO offers faster data rate. This router comes with MIMO feature in this price segment.
Cons:
1.When leaving to some distance from router,The signal strength is strong enough. It provides same download speed but the upload speeds gets reduced.
But this is a minor issue. It doesn't needs to be considered. Its worth for its price. One can buy this when they need all the amazing features in router for an affordable price point.
Not a single issues since the last 12 months of usage
