Update - Now the app is tracking yet another dog
The day after I received this device (of course had to charge it first), I took my pet to my back yard. The app picked up another pet about 10 houses down in my neighborhood. To verify, I walked down to that yard to verify there was a pet there where the app "saw" it.Performed some troubleshooting (including re-pair the device using entering the code manually and with the QR Code.I went to their website, and went over all the links I could find to troubleshoot further. Not finding any further resources to assist with the issue, I sent an email to them (no options to call them). In return, I received what had to be a canned reply (which concerns me that they might get so many emails that they aren't reading any of them).Hello,Thank you for contacting Tractive. Why do you think it is tracking your neighbors device? When the device is indoor it can happen that you receive an inaccurate position because GPS signals can occasionally be reflected by windows, weather patterns, and building structures. In addition, the accuracy varies depending on how many GPS satellites are in view. This can sometimes lead to positions with a lower accuracy especially when the device is used indoors or if most GPS satellites are blocked by tall buildings or trees. Unfortunately, these types of inaccuracies can't be completely avoided due to technical limitations of the GPS technology.Yours sincerely,Eva ListKundenservice | Customer ServiceFirst, I didn't have the dog inside, as the whole point to this device would be to find her when she wanders away (pretty sure I can find her if she's inside). So, no windows. I live in a house...so no skyscrapers...and who would take their pet outside if there were "weather conditions"?I'm going to see if I just get another "nonsense" reply, and then start the process of a refund of the 2 year contract for the service, and then return the device to Amazon. I'm sure this will be a long, drawn out process because you can't even call them. I'm assuming there will be multiple emails involved with me answering more lame, canned, questions.UpdateSo, I hear what you’re saying about the GPS not working inside. That wasn’t the point I was trying to make. The point was that even when this device isn’t working, I can still (without it) get my pet home safe. But, that said…she’s back. Yesterday I had her in our back yard about 6:00 AM (04/17).As you can see, my app picked up a second dog from another neighborhood. While she was still on our back yard, I went around the front of my yard, and could see the dog as in the attached photo. So, apparently your device isn’t picking up just one other dog…but apparently any dog that happens to have their device turned on at the same time as mine.I truly believe I’ve spent more than enough of my time in trying to troubleshoot your product. All the information you’ve given so far is just a repeat that under certain conditions (the device is inside my house, which isn’t even when I’m trying to track her…again, pretty sure I can find her inside my house without your device). This isn’t a problem with THIS device not being tracked…but the app tracking most any pet besides mine.I truly wish your company the best of luck figuring out what is wrong with your product. It seems like a practical idea, if it would only actually trace my pet when I need it to. I feel that if I actually need to find my pet if she has wandered away from our yard, every pet with a tracking device I walk by will just make the search worse.I will just purchase a Tile…at least then if I can get in bluetooth range, it will make a sound. Not exactly what I need, but better than nothing.Without any more testing…I would like a refund on my service.I will begin the process of returning the device to Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Peace of mind in a small collar accessory
Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2019
I have a really friendly foxhound and I also have 25 acres of woods. My pup loves to take off and release some steam, which isn't a problem on the times he returns in a few minutes. With the Tractive tracker, I can see where he is when he goes for a run and go collect him if he gets distracted. I love the notifications if he leaves the virtual fence I have set up around our home and with live tracking I can see right where he is at all times. The small, lightweight tracker is easy to attach and remove from a standard collar, stays in place well, and doesn't bother my pup. Even better, the customer service at Tractive has been great! I bought 2 trackers so I can have one on the charger while he's wearing the other and just swap instead of having to remember to charge and replace. About a month after we got them, one disappeared. We searched and searched but the battery had died - and 25 acres is a lot of ground to cover. I had purchased the insurance (such a good value!) and the company sent us a replacement right away.

Praise aside, there are a few shortcomings with the Tractive tracker. Sometimes I have difficulty getting the live tracking to connect, but I think this is due to my spotty cellular reception as it usually connects if I drive down the road. Also, the notifications for low battery and virtual fence keep turning off on my phone and I have to uninstall and reinstall the app to get them working again (can't just turn them on for some reason). Last, I'd like it if the battery lasted longer but that's true for everything. These are fairly minor annoyances compared to what I gain.

Overall, the Tractive tracker was a fantastic investment and the peace of mind that I've gotten by not having to worry if my boy wants to stretch his legs was worth every penny.

4.0 out of 5 stars A decent product for what it is...
Reviewed in Canada on August 17, 2018
I will go in depth as much as I can about this product.

So the great things about this product:
1. It does what it says it does, it tracks your pet by using a 3G Network and gives you a live location of where your pet is at.
2. The plans it offers are very decent, with it also includes a separate warranty that if somehow the device gets lost, stolen or destroyed the company will offer to replace it, but that's only if you buy their warranty for the device.

3. You can track your pet by either using your home/public wifi or mobile data.

4. The device itself doesn't fall off easy and it does take quite some effort to take off.

5. It comes with a unique charger and 2 different clips for both dogs and cats.

6. Displays your location and your cats location simultaneously.

7. Has some unique features not seen in other tracking devices.

8. Durable: I have not tested it in water but it is durable enough to take some hard knocks.

Now these all sound good, but it comes with its own share of problems, some my own nitpicks others are issues that need to be fixed.

1. The price Tag: 100$ CAD is not bad for the device itself considering what it does but the prices for the plans and warranty themselves are left to be desired. I went with the premium version because of what it does for and my pet and I bought the warranty for the device. Altogether it cost me an additional 230$CAD which is a staggering amount if you want a warranty and a 2 year plan but I'll let you the reader decide wether that's too steep of a price for premium+ warranty but at least there are cheaper plans for you to pick up.

2. The tracking: when it tracks, it tracks well with amazing accuracy, but other times you have to continuously click the live button because it tracks your cat for a full minute until it decides to disconnect having you to reconnect again, and it does this constantly.

3. This is a nitpick but I found the device too large for my cat and I can only imagine the discomfort it has on him when he tries to nap, at least he manages to cope with it and is able to sleep with it on.

4. The charger: another nitpick of mine, the charger works perfectly fine but it's not a very ergonomically designed charger having a clamp based design rather than the standard USB port we are all used to seeing on most modern devices, meaning that if you lose your charger you will have to go out of your way to purchase a replacement. It would've been better off it the charging port was today's standard charging port so it wouldn't be such a hassle to find a replacement charger.

5. The brackets themselves: it would've been better if the brackets are adjustable themselves rather than 2 different sizes one size for cats and one size for dogs. It seems that they didn't take into account that each collar a pet wears has different thicknesses and I'm only just lucky that my cat has a thin layer on his collar where I can properly attach the device but other people may need to go back shopping to buy a collar that can have the device attached to it.

6. Battery does not last as long as advertised: the advertisement stated the it can stay on for 3 days and just after 48 hours the battery went from full to just a measly 20% meaning that you need to charge it every couple of days if left on for continuous amounts of time.

But despite the ups and downs of the product I am satisfied with it and I'll leave it up to you to decide if it's worth your investment but if you want to hear it from me I'd advise that you go look at other tracking products before considering buying this one. But if you do decide to buy it, it isn't too bad if a purchase but I would still advise that you look at other products before buying this one.

Update: my cat got caught by one of my neighbor's cat traps (the ones that are meant to capture) after I realized that it was strange that he had been in the same area for a couple of hours I decided to head over to his location regardless wether or not I was trespassing and sure enough I found him in the cage and rescued him. If it wasn't for the tracker he had on his collar I wouldn't have found him.
