Functionality:
With many input options, this head unit should satisfy most users. Radio, BT audio, and Pandora apps work flawlessly. Android Auto, my usual option, can be a pain. Connection is spotty with most USB cables. Additionally, Android Auto has a wireless option now. The constantly-connected USB cable is unattractive and irritating. Since Android Auto is a software-defined interface, a patch should be able to upgrade this unit to wireless. However, this won't happen because Pioneer sells pricier models with wireless. If they'd patch it, it would be a near perfect device for Android Auto.
Looks: This unit looks mostly great. I searched for a model with less-angular buttons, but it seems that stereo makers believe that everyone wants an edgy look. I love the ability to change button illumination color. The screen is vibrant, but tends to pick up fingerprints. Most people think it's a factory unit (which is what I was going for).
Installation: Like any head unit, an installation kit definitely helps. Coupled with custom trim, the stereo will go in easy and look great. The included wiring harness would have been immensely difficult to install correctly. A kit makes life so much easier!

One thing that I was surprised to discover - at least in my car - was that the amplifier outputs run higher than the stock Bose unit, so this more than makes up for quieter tracks that otherwise just don't sound like you are getting full volume out of.
I also get reliable Bluetooth connections with my Pixel 2XL. (My phone doesn't like to switch quickly from other systems in the house, but I placed a convenient NFC tag in the car to force it to switch faster.) So I usually have a usable Pandora stream within a minute of starting the car.
FM reception is also pretty decent as well. Perhaps it's just missing, but I couldn't figure out what to wire my power antenna to with this unit, so it is currently un-powered, but it picks up local signals without a problem regardless. I'll probably just add a separate switch for the antenna later, but I'm not really sure I need to.
My add-on SiriusXM tuner was detected and seamlessly connected as well, and it delivers full information display to the screen with programmable presets available.
My only real complaint with this unit is that it remains a little too bright at night. The automatic dimming works great when the headlights are turned off, but I'd like to be able to drop the brightness another 30-50% or so to reduce night time glare. It's not horrible, but it's noticeable. Even better would be if there is a way to sleep the screen until touched.
Other minor complaint is that getting to the SiriusXM tuner involves an extra step without a shortcut to select it on the lower menu bar. (Perhaps there is an option to add it to that menu. I haven't actually checked, as I consider it a very minor issue.)
Honestly, being in a ragtop car, I wanted to go as cheap as possible here while retaining CD and adding Bluetooth and SiriusXM connectivity in simple single package, (unlike the extra stuff I had to cobble together with the Bose) and I really feel like this unit has terrific bang for the buck - particularly since other retailers were charging nearly $100 more for it at the time!
