Wilson A900

The A900 series of Wilson baseball gloves has a clean old-school look with its British Tan and Black leather with classic Wilson Gold and Black logos. Even better -- grounders, line drives and fly balls don't stand a chance with a glove that's ready right away. There's no long winter break-in or sore knuckles punching the leather. Your A900 will be ready when you are.

Product Description

This 11. 5" A900 baseball glove is made for ballplayers looking to get an edge on the diamond. This model is made with an H-Web, and its low profile heel gives the glove the necessary flexibility to open the palm and pocket, making fielding ground balls easier.

Lace broke during first practice - But company stands behind its product!!!
I had high hopes for this glove as our Wilson A500 prior to this has stood the test of time (4 years). The leather quality on this A900 is fantastic, much better than Wilson A500. But to our disappointment the lace broke during our first indoor practice (see photo). We have filed a claim with Wilson and based on our previous experience, they will take care of the glove but I suspect I'll have to fork more dollar to ship the glove back to them and in the mean time use the good ol trusty A500. This seems to be major downfall of this glove design as I found out this is not an isolated case. In the mean time I'm going to give Rawlings R9 series a run to see if that's any better.Update 2/20/21:As expected, Wilson took care of the product under warranty. This is the reason we have purchased almost exclusively Wilson brand products for almost all of our baseball needs in last 5 years (Bats, gloves, bags, even glove oil) and when needed they did not disappoint. Hopefully the replacement will last at least 3 - 4 years until the kiddo is ready for A2000 or A2K. As I stated above, we purchased Rawlings R9 to try it out but the kiddo is used to Wilson and he prefers A900 over R9 so Wilson it is for now. I do have to say from the quality perspective Rawlings R9 feels a lot better (better quality lether and laces) but we are not going find out it's durability since the kiddo wants to stick with his A900 or A500 (if A900 is not working). To be honest, part of the reason he does not like Rawlings R9 is the better quality leather (requires longer break-in time) and he doesn't like the fact that he can't squeeze the glove right out of the box. So we plan to Keep the R9 as a back up glove for now and keep working on breaking it in slowly just in case the replacement A900 bites the dust again.Update 7/5/2021: (I'm updating it to 5 star from 1)For two reasons:1. Company replaced the broken glove.2. The glove has been working as expected. After using the A900 for almost a season, this glove has performed well. For a 10 year old who uses it, It is still not fully broken in and ball still pops out once in a while when only squeezing it with one hand. So if anyone is looking for a decent glove for a 10-12 years old, this is great glove but make sure you get it at the beginning of the season so you have plenty of time to break it in (breaking it in enough for a kid that is - for adults its not a problem). If looking for 6-9 year old I do not recommend this as it is too hard to squeeze and instead I recommend A500 which is much more easy to squeeze.10/28/2022:After two full seasons of play, the glove is still holding up well. I think we can get at least another couple of seasons out of it. Picture attached - I did condition the glove at the end of the season with glove conditioner.

I have tried out Wilson A500s at sporting goods stores in the past. They are supposedly all leather and they are very supple. Great feeling glove. You wished every glove was that easy out of the package. But, they are a youth glove.

As an adult with my own smaller hands the A500 are still too small.

I don't like the fastback grip with the pointer out of the index finger hole. I like an open back/wrist. I like to use the "claw" grip. Pinky and ring in the same finger slot. Middle finger in the ring finger slot. Index out.

I researched the A900 because it's an in between glove. I don't have the money for an A2K or 2000. But the A900 is all leather. Sturdy lacing. Claw grip is exactly the way this glove needs to be fingered.

Other reviews say the glove is rubbery. True. But the leather is a quality I haven't seen in this price point. The next leading company will sell you synthetics at this price.

I took a chance on a warehouse item A900 and it's really nice.

Even if you pay the $60-80 for this glove it's worth it.

Best thing to do is just play with it. Catch. Throw long toss. Fire pitches. Rub your nose grease on it. Beat it up in the dirt. Rub some oil on it after. It's a baseball glove. Break it in by playing baseball.

Nice pre broken in leather with a good rich feel to it. The web is nice and makes for a great fielding glove. Definitely not a glove just on the cheap. It stands up to some of the Rawlings gloves my son and I have owned over the years. I definitely recommend the Wilson A series line. Just a heads up this one is as easy to break in as one would want without sacrificing feel, padding or quality. Be prepared to shape it gently how you like but can be played with day one no problems

Should have gotten the larger size for adults, had to adjust the blackstrap to its max setting for my kid. Still it’s a good glove, should be able to use thru high school

Leather was soft and easy to break in. I would recommend for young kids starting travel ball and know they will stick with baseball. Best way to explain this is glove it is like the beginning of the entry level of the higher end gloves. It is no way a high end glove, but it's starting price of around 100 make it reasonably priced.

Switched positions in the infield and needed a reliable glove. Bought this one and after a season and many practice sessions, this glove continues to impress with durable leather and soft pocket. Should have bought it an inch bigger but it works as good as the one fielding the ball. It fits comfortable and molds to my hand. Crisp color leather and durable shape. Should last for many more seasons.

This is a great glove. Perfect for a 2nd basemen. The leather is high quality and is very comfortable to use. I personally don’t like the make them very soft because it’s a lot easier to to get the ball in and out specially in a double play situation. But if you are buying this for a young kid, you may need some conditioning. But in general this is a great glove , great quality and a great purchase!

Honestly this is a great glove. Very comfortable and double padding. My son loves it. He is 13 yrs old and plays majors with this team. But you do have to remember to take care of the glove clean it and use some vaseline. This glove is easy to shape no need to put it in the oven. Which I personally think it's stupid common sense tells you put leather in extreme heat you are drying the leather and laces so it will not last .

5.0 out of 5 stars Natural predecessor to the pig skin glove...

After the plastic 10 in glove and the 10.5 in pig skin glove (Mizuno Wildkidz), is the A900. My son is now 9, on the skinny side, is loving his A900. I had to go to the other set of holes on the wrist band to make it tighter for his skinny wrist. The Pedroia Fit also makes the finger stall nicely snug on his fingers.

Don’t waste your money on an A500 or other brands. We tried Mizuno, Rawlings, SSK... none came close to the A900 in terms of the tight fit and the quality of leather. A900’s isn’t as heavy as Rawlings (Gamers) and SSK (Highlight Pro). It also doesn’t feel rubbery and soft like Rawlings and SSK. Instead it is very slightly stiffer. The glove is still game-ready out of the bag but should hold the shape well.

Mizuno’s Franchise fits too big. Their Premier and Prospect series don’t feel as good of quality as A900.

After shopping around for a while, the A900 is the natural successor for my 9 year old son who plays 2-4 days of competitive baseball a week. My highest recommendation!
