Better Than I Expected

I was not happy with the product on my first few tries, but after watching a few demonstrations on You-tube I saw what I was doing wrong. The enclosed instructions are not the best, so don't be disenchanted. The most important thing I learned, from I believe it was a You-tube demonstration from the Philippines, was to cover what I was scanning with a sheet of acetate, (available from most art or craft stores), and that made all the difference. The scans are excellent. I've been scanning a series of full color illustrations I did over the summer, and I often like the scans better than the originals. I'm using a 27" i-Mac computer. After a few weeks of using the scanner, I would highly recommend it.

App on Android no longer supported

The app on Android just freezes when attempting to connect to the scanner. This is due to the fact that Vupoint has not supported their Android App since 2016. Since I needed a scanner that works on my mobile phone (a Note 8) then it pretty much is of no use buying it since I already have a Vupoint scanner that does not have Wifi function. Sorry, but it's just not worth getting this if they app is not working.

Worth it with a minor kink

Being able to both - scan by hand with the battery AND use the dock for precision auto-feed scanning - was an ABSOLUTE winner for me. I confess: it is absolutely ridiculous that you cannot scan into PNG format - only JPG and PDF (if you don't know, PNG is a lossless format, which JPG isn't in this case); this shows that this product is not intended for professional applications. However, this is the only issue I know with this product - it otherwise works well and appears to be reliable for scanning documents, photos, receipts and much more.

A couple more things about this product. One... don't pay over $200 for it: if you look hard enough, you should find it for around $150... and don't assume that Amazon always has the lowest price!!!!! And two... This version of the product is no longer manufactured; it is not clear why this is the case, but quite soon it will be gone forever; so, if you need one, don't procrastinate and buy it; I looked hard and could not find any other product on the market that would work both as a portable hand-scanner and an auto-feed scanner in the dock mode.

I bought and used this wonderful scanner and it works great. I have no problem with the scanner at all. The problem is that the iOS app that goes along with this to my iPhone is not updated for iOS 10 and now iOS11. I used my iPhone a lot with the scanner but now it's less portable because I can only use it with my laptop. Please update the app so that this will truly be a portable scanner again!

I was initially very pleased with the scanner, but less than a year after I bought it, it stopped feeding pictures through. I can still remove the wand and hand scan but it no longer functions in the manner for which I had purchased it.

On a family tour with the magic wand

I brought this with me on a trip to see my aunt. It fit perfectly in my purse. I was able to take it out and easily scan more than 200 pictures in her photo album while sitting in her front room. Some of the pictures she had were loose and they slid right through. Others were more in photo albums and the wand scanned over them with ease. I was pleasantly surprised of the quality of the pictures when I returned home. I saw they looked ok in the preview screen but was shocked at how great they looked on my computer. I'm now sharing the pictures with the rest of the family and on to more aunts and uncles homes to collect old photos.
